quitting cold turkey...my mother who is an RN told me that nicotine changes the way the body stores fat cell and that i should expect to put on some body fat in the next few months(right now i'm 5'7 170lbs and 6%bf). Ive been working out religously for 3 yrs and I'm damn happy w/my results thus far. I eat pretty clean even though I'm a bit of a hard gainer and could probably eat anything and not gain to much. Do I really have something to worry about or is my mom just full of shit.....TIA for any advice :worried:

Good luck :)

I just quit two months ago, after many other attempts at quitting it seems like this maybe it. I tried to change everything overnight. Bumped up the water intake, started training agagin (was coming off a 6 month layoff), taking my supplements and vitamins again and eating right. Although, this may be too much for some people, the change seemed to shock my system and it seemed much easier to quit, no major urges.

But every once in awhile the urge still sneaks up on ya...

I need to stop but need help i'm a fuckin loser

The realization that you need to stop is certainly not stupid, on contrary, a remarkably smart thinking, hence calling yourself a "fucking loser" is contradictory. However, you could called yourself "a fucking loser" on the grounds of having a profile name like "Lobsterman" LoL.

Ok bro, just think of how much healthy your body & mind would be upon quitting. It is like an opportunity for a new life, new lifestyle, new health..a new future.

Myself, I started smoking at about 13 or 14. I'm 37 now. But around my mid twenties, I found myself working at a place where I couldn't smoke, & had a baby daughter in the house. So I HAD to cut down my smoking due to these circumstances. Eventually, I found myself smoking only when going out on weekends, along with the alcoholic beverages. By the time I hit 30, I was only going out maybe once every month or so.
Now, I hardly have a drink. Its been about 5 months now. And for me, it means no drinking = no smoking.
For me, being seen with a cigarette is embarrassing. At work, all the smokers have to bundle up in freezing weather during break and stand outside shivering with their cigarettes in their hand. I pass them everyday as I come in, or leave for lunch. Sheez, give them their own break room or something; I'd feel so humiliated to have to do that all the time.
I don't consider myself a non-smoker. If I needed a cigarette right now, I would go buy a pack and light up. I just never have the urge. The clean living, with exercise and diet have a lot to do with it, I think. I'm more like a smoker who doesn't smoke!

Good to see this post - I just quit (again...) this past Sunday. Surprisingly, it hasn't been tough at all yet. I'll be turning 38 in a few weeks, and I just feel like I've smoked enough in my life already... The tough part for me will be when I get the weed order I'm expecting. Here in Europe, weed is typically smoked together with tobacco. That was what killed my last attempt to quit cigarettes. I'll have to force myself to smoke it pure :p
Keep up the good work, Rat. K to you...
