Does anyone do these with regularity? I've messed around with them in the past, but never consistently. I did some today and 3x10 with 135 fucking blew my tris up. No elbow pain either.
You are probably right. I did not have my fatgripz today though.
I used a false grip. I think that might help with any elbow discomfort. I'm going to keep them in my rotation. My split is soon to change from an upper/lower to a traditional body part split. I'm thinking these will be done as one of my main tricep exercise for a little while. Dips, JMs, and overhead rope ext after shoulders
I've never done that, but I do cable tri pushdowns, which look like the same action (about half way between a narrow grip bench press and a dumbell overhead extension). I like the cable pushdowns since I work out alone, and I don't see how I could go to failure with the jm press. But I'm curious how it feels, so I'll give it a try!
I've done them in the past. Better alternative to the pressdown if you want to increase your bench.
I've found the main drawback to be that the plane of motion is very similar to a bench press. Throw these into a mix with bench presses of various grips, board press, etc. and it's easy to burn out. Well, I guess that's what exercise rotation is for.

you dont need to go to failure on them, I dont really see how a compound movement like a JM Press could be replaced with a pushdown unless you were a powerlifter who was getting burnt out from too much pressing like fortuneatesun mensioned...
