Is it possible to blank out while deadlifting?

I felt something strange yesterday while deadlifting.

During my fourth set I started to see stars and was a little bit light headed. I finished the fourth set and took about an 8 minute brake before the 5th set.

Is it possible to pass out while deadlifting? I know this movement is very taxing on the system. I also get some weird headache while deadlifting. It doesn't last long though, it just comes while I'm lifting heavy. Ten minutes later it goes away.

i love it when that happens- i get off on that shit...
...and yes, i have seen a dude pass out after pulling 700ish... but its not very likely to happen... ive only seen it that one time, and he got up and was fine... and he took a 4th attempt with 700+, didnt get it though...
dont let this scare you from lifting heavy!... tear that shit up!!!

Awesome bro, yeah sometimes I got those overwhelming feelings, during deadlifts, squats, on wednesday I got it while doing bench press (not so cool this one though, actually my face's right side gut a bit numb), once doing dips with 90lbs attached I felt kinda like my heart was going to come out of place. On another ocasion I almost fainted under the leg press and it took me about 2 hours too get fully recovered (still get the chills everytime i think about it)

exoustion combined with overload will lead to passing out. it is fun nearing that point. one day i was at the tail end of a widdow maker squat set just comming out of the hole as i projectile vomited and imediately got dizzy as hell. i had to dump the weight.

I've gone down a few times. Its one of the "3 P's" of working really hard....

lol, nice.

I sometimes see stars during a heavy deadlift set, and have to sit down right after as I need to catch my breath and am a bit disy.

I wonder if it has something to do with lack of oxygen while fully exerting yourself? I know I usually get it on the 4th or 5th rep of a heavy deadlift set. I take a dep breath before each rep, but hold it and breathe out for the actual rep. The heavier the weight the longer each rep takes to complete, times that by 5 reps....

Anyway, if you are worried about it it wouldn't hurt to see a doctor, get your blood pressure checked etc.
