Better late than never! I take about 400mgs before my typical meals, and about 600-800mgs before meals on my "cheat day". BTW, I also had juvenile diabetes as a kid, just my blood sugar is already messed up to begin with.
I'm assuming this really applies well with your PW shake (more so then solid food)...take the r-ALA 15 minutes before completeing the workout, and then drink the dextrose/whey immediately? That way your body is primed for the dextrose.
I've been taking it a couple minutes before my PW shake, but not 15 minutes. Looks like I may need to take it a little earlier.
