INJURED!!!!!!!, help guys i'm in pain.

Thanks guys I'm goin to an orthoped and i'm hopin this dude is cool about lifitn i've never gone to him before but if he's like the rest of them and what he says makes no sense then fuck him too i'll just go to a sports med doc, which is what I shoulda done from the beginnin now that i think about it.

Remember that an injury is just an obstacle. One to work with and not around. Your new goal should be to strengthen that injury to where you are 100%. Don't work around it and avoid anything that might hurt it...strengthen it!!!

Well wouldn't strengthen it up be like doing a certain excercise for example ab pulldowns with like 10lbs for 3-6 minutes straight twice a week. And doing like floor GM's with the bar for 3-6 minutes two times a week but different days rather than the same day. like to strengthen it up I feel right now I can't do heavy weight so I'll do recoup work. Am I right on this assumpsion.

There have been so many replies already that I almost feel like passing this one up but here goes.

You say the chiro says: "No real problems. Three weeks in my care and you'll be fine...."

Funny.... I remember hearing the same thing when i herniated 2 of my discs. Most chiropractors are fucking witch doctors. I lived in Atlanta, GA which holds Life Chiropractic college, one of 2 biggest Chiro schools in the nation. 90% of these people are fucking idiots. They would never get into a real college let alone a medical school. Now, some chiros are cool and I believe can 'supplement' training, BUT they are not doctors and x-rays do not show herniated discs.!!!!!

Re-read that last statement to yourself.

Please get your opinion from a real ortho like you plan and maybe stay away from the chiro that says he will have you all fixed up in 3 weeks.

And fuck him when he says good mornings are the worst thing you can do for your lower back. That is bullshit!!!!!!! What qualifies him to make this statement??? Do you really think research has done that shows good mornings blow out lower backs??? Same old tired argument that squatting will ruin your knees. Do you realize there are tons of ways you can perform good mornings, all of which work your body differently? Did he bother to ask you how you were doing them?

Sorry to beat on you. You will be fine eventually. Get a real opinion, stay away from witch doctors, and learn that injuries are part of the sport.

take care.

Well this was the real first time that I learned that injuries are part of the sport and by no means am I gonna now feel sorry and quit. and I will be going to the orthoped. In fact I heard from some friend that went to this guy that he is also a sports med doc so hopefully this is the guy I should be goin too. Now one thing is for sure no matter what all of them tell me with the help of you guys I will be back on my feet lifting in no time. and doing my own fuckin rehab to strengthen my lower back. Irish with what I posted above for my rehab does that sound good????? and I showed this guy how I was doing my GM's and he said "now I know why you messed up your back". So fuck that chiro.

I have heard lots of stories about Life in Atlanta...haha...most of them are very similar to yours. A very good friend of mine graduated from Logan in STL...and he is an avid weight lifter. He loves the big 3 too.

Just spend extra time on your lower back and ab region. Make it your focus.

Hey Cubanito...

Look at this thing from a positive angle. The injury most likely exposed a weakness. As others have previously said, hammer your core - abs, obliques & lower back - and you come back stronger with many PR's to show for the work you put in.

There have been many injuries recently in the powerlifting world. But, I know these lifters will rehab and be back before you know it. Don't use this as an excuse to slack off. I know people like Fusner, Harris, Frank and Halbert aren't slacking off from there recent injuries. They use the injuries as motivation to train harder and come back stronger than ever. Be smart about your injury and continue to train hard.

Well after reading all of these posts, there has been lots of encouragement to keep training and work on getting Cubanito's back STRONGER rather than work around it. I fully agree. Personally, as I have stated in my reply here earlier, I have also messed up my lower back from heavy DL's. This was not too long ago but as Im typing, the shit is still bothering me from Tuesdays DL:mad:

Cubanito has made a few suggestions as far as which excersises would be good to help strengthen the lower back but Im not seing too many replys to any specific excersises? Once he gets back to the gym and starts out slowly, which would be good excercises to help STRENGTHEN THE LOWER BACK?

Now that I think about it, I have not done too much to strenghten it other than regular hyperextensions and of course abs ... which is proably why its still bothering me!

Maybe we can start posting different routines to help STRENGTHEN ones lower back ..... Lets start putting together some good routines ... I know there are many people here with bad lower backs that can prob use the advise too... :fro:

thanks vtec and I have to agree i would like some advise as to how I should go about getting back in the gym after my MRI. What should I start doin for rehab.

There is a member on here I don't know if he wants to stay anonymous so I won't say his name, if he wants to he can. But I've been talkin to him and he has recommended to me that I should when I get back to training do recoup work start with strengthenin abs. so he told me to do ab pulldowns with light weight for 3-6 minutes 3-5 times a week. and do floor GM's with just the bar for 3-6 minutes as long as it doesn't fatigue my lower back. Keep all lower back work with light weight and high reps.

Floor GM's would just be regular GM's standing right? And what about Hyperextensions for sets of 20 or so?
BTW, hows your back now? Still in pain, and is it a sharp pin-point when you move around or what?
