INJURED!!!!!!!, help guys i'm in pain.

Damn injuries...

Cubanito,

Make sure you get a a firm diagnosis from a qualified professional before you do anything else. Continue treating the injury as explained by all previous thread posters. Everyone has given solid advice. The injury sounds more serious than just a strain. Be smart about your injury and you will minimize your "down-time".

One more thing. It is adviseable to lift without a supportive belt in order to strengthen your "core". However, maximal lifts and performance of new exercises may require the use of a supportive belt, as well as other supportive gear. If ever in doubt then throw your belt on. Sometimes wearing a belt can be a mental thing but it is better to protect yourself so that training can continue.

I hope your injury isn't serious and wish you a speedy recovery. Don't let this get you down; you will recover.

By no means should you be getting on a reverse hyper until you have been fully checked out. I will bet that one of the reasons for this hapening was because of yoiur weak abs.

Thanks screw and I do feel safer with a belt now.

Grimm I have to wait until they can give me results on the x-rays tommorow, at the chiro if he says nothin seems to be wrong i'm outta there.

Well if I remember correctly, it was at least 2 weeks with NO GYM!!!!.... then started to go back and just benched... then maybe 1-2 weeks later tried to do some leg presses...But that f*@k'd my back even more....took another 2 weeks off and tried to SQ... PERFECT form very light (95) for sets of 20... after 2 weeks of that went up to 135, then each week kept going up slowly back to where I was.. Didnt seem to loose too much leg strenth but just a little... Now I dont leg press, and have to DL carefully.... But SQ Every Week!!! DL do cause some tightness in my lower back still but just have to watch your form and listen carefully to your body... if you feel pain, STOP.... Lift as much as you can but WITHOUT pain..... Soon you should be where you can lift without hardly any pain..

Good Luck....

Sorry to hear that Cubanito. I hosed up my back deadlifting when I was 15. I still have problems to this day. The only way my back doesn't bother me is if I keep my core strong and I stretch the shit out of my calves and hammies.

I couldn't do shit with my back for along time. I ended up doing gm's ironically when I was 16-17 to strengthen my lower back. I did gm's without any weight for super high reps to pump the hell out of my back. I then started with just a barbell and worked my way up. After about 4-6 weeks of that, it was as if I never hurt it.

A couple of years and many hundreds of cases of beer later, my back problems started again. I wasn't lifting then and my core got weak. Now that I lift regularly, I generally don't have any problems except for 2 days after a squat/deadlift workout. That is due to the tightness of my posterior chain which I stretch to eleviate the problem.

You got mail.

I replied to your pm by email.
After reading your newer posts, DON'T get on the machine or anything else for that matter until you get it checked out. If it's bad enough they will take an MRI and go from there, x-rays will only show if verts are out of line or cracked. Email me as soon as you know anything. [email protected] or [email protected].
The thing to do for now is take it easy and stay off your feet. Lying in bed might be painful, for me it hurt like hell.
The best news I can give you is that you will recover. How long depends on how smart you are about this. Please don't try to do any training at all for a while.
I am now fully recovered and stronger now then I was before.

Cubanito17, I am going to jump on the go see a qualified
professional band wagon. I started to wide squat about
six months ago. Three months back, I hurt what I thought
was my lower back. Scared the crap out of me.

I was afraid to push myself in training because I did not
know what was wrong with me. Finally, decided to go see
a doctor and he ran some tests and said that a series of
muscles in my hip that attached in the lower back were weak
and had become strained. He gave me a couple of exercises
and I was back to full speed within a month.

Had I not gone to the doctor, I would still be guessing as to
what the injury was. I would not be able to push myself out
of fear of doing some really bad damage.

Find out what it is wrong, do the work to fix the weak area
and you will be back to full strength in no time. :)

HEY guys I got back from the chiro today. He said good news is that from the x-rays there's nothing wrong and since i'm young i'll heal alot faster. he said that it must be that my back bended too much and the nerves and fibers around it started to pinch or some shit like that. He told me 3 weeks with his care and I should be good, but he advised me not to do GM's anymore b/c they are the worse excercise for lower back. He even said he can set me up with some PL's or weightlifters for me to meet and they'll start some training or recoup for me. Now honestly when this guy told me that the most dangerous sport out there is powerlifting I knew he was against it all together, but i'm under his care now. he told me I can do upper body work just nothing involving my lower back. So I guess I can only do bench work for now until I slowly get back to everything else. He advised me to do stretches and shit when I felt up to it. And if after the 3 weeks of his care I don't feel better than they'll do an MRI and see what happens from there.

Good to here. You will be able to do GMs again but maybe not for a month or so. YOu nee to work on yoiur abs anyway. Train hard for bench.

Yes I know I have to train abs more and I'm gonna work on my bench now since it's the only thing I can do. One thing though do all of you honestly think I'll be able to do GM's again. I know in a few minutes i'm going to my physician so he can recommend me to an orthoped so I can get a second opinion I wasn't to happy with my chiro hating PL since it's the most dangerous sport. So for now it's just bench for me. I don't think I'll be able to take that record I wanted so bad for deads and it really sucks, but I just have to hope that I can stil deadlift period.
