INJURED!!!!!!!, help guys i'm in pain.

Thanks bro but I have to wait until next week to see an ortho. Now my pediatrition and mother both agree to STAY AWAY FROM LIFTING PERIOD.    DAMNIT:mad:   I thought I could finally bring my bench up and keep going and now I can't even do that. I truly do feel paralized now since I can't do shit. Now all my gains down the fuckin toilet. DREAM of having the world record at age 19 in APA 181 weight class, GONE b/c of a fucking back injury. And I would've TOTALED the record that it is now at tha time I reached 19 this is fucking gay.

yo bro take a xanax and a valium and read this---a week off will not kill you when you get back you will be rested and recoperated and you will probably be stronger--if not the first week back I guarantee the next week you will be stronger. pl is not the most dangerous sport --- what about skydiving if you have a mistake you dont even see doc---boxing you can get knocked to queer street--- jujitsu you can get hurt neck( I know from experience) ---football can hurt everything I know more people see docs for football injuries than pl. Ive had 4 pl injuries in my 12 year career(neck-minor, left and right ac joints in shoulder-minor and low back-more than minor) and each injury only put me out at tops a couple of weeks tell me a football player with less injuries and less healing time than that----if it makes you feel better, my parents still tell me I lift too much, train too heavy and i am too big and Im 34 years old. Im benching more now than ever.

cubantio.. are your parents making you stop training all together , or just while your injured? Either way it sucks, and docs always ruin everything.. i hurt my wrist biking and the doc blamed it on lifting and told me not to lift.. but he was wrong, and my wrist was fine in a week... Just read up on training while your out, and eat!

Don't worry

You'll be back in no time to full health. You'll still be able to go after that record when your 19. You'll be able to do GM's again. Just stay away from them for a little while. I've also hurt quite a few things(shoulder, back, ankles, hand, elbow, knee). Only one has required surgery, hand, and it's now back to full strength. I can't believe people tell me that pl is most dangerous, I had way more injuries playing football than will ever have pling. Lifting helped me recover from all my injuries, if it weren't for lifting I probably would still be walking with a limp due to the tendons in my ankle being messed up. Lifting has helped stretch them over time. Don't believe people that have never lifted condemning lifting. They usually don't know what the fuck they are talking about. Good luck and check your email

Thanks to all. Well I guess i'm just out for a while and soon i'll be 18 so I won't really have to worry about my parents stoping me all together b/c they cant. Damn sorry to hear all the injuries you guys have had. And about me and mine I hope i'll be back soon. And thanks for the ideas on some other sports that are more dangerous I'll bring that up next time someone tells me about PL.

Dude , injuries are part of powerlifting. Most of the people on this board have had at least one injury. The sign of a true champion is coming back from that injury. You have nothing to worry about. Sure , you may not be able to do gms for a while but htat will give you time to work on other things like low box sqauts and pin pulls and BENCH although they may be light. Yes i do think you will do gms again and probably come back stronger. I have terrible elbows and every night i come home from benching my girlfriend bitches at me for wrapping them in ice and taking some aleve and says shes gonna leave me if i keep doing it ( long story) but no one can stop you but yourself. Your parents mght not like it , but if you let them know how much this means to you they should understand.
Your Family phisician and Chiroprator are probably two of the worst people out there to be telling you that they think PL is the most dangerous sport. No offense but they don't get under that bar everyday and get it done. Now , i'm no MD or anything but when before i started training people and i would see sombody doing a GM or Box squat i would say the same thing "their gonna hurt themselves". Until i did it myself ,read the articles ,and aplied it. THese are not harmful movements if done SMART and CORRECTLY!

Sorry for the memo but its good to hear your ok , Good luck.

Hey thanks alot bro and I hope by the time you get down here so we can train together down with BOB i'll be fine. And i appreciate your concern and how you wanna help. I guess I'll just keep icing the bastard until it gets better and hopefully lil by lil it will. And I guess I'll just focus on bench instead of deadlift. But i'm honestly gonna feel pussy if by the time i come back I have a higher bench than squat or deadlift. B/C it's normally the other way around but I know i'll come back quick, hopefully. I just gotta start sayin my prayers now b/c no one is gonna keep me away from this game, and I shouldn't say game I should say THE BEST FUCKING SPORT OUT THERE.

Cubanito17, find a doctor who specializes in working with
athletes such as yourself. If your doctor is telling you to
stop lifting, find a new doctor.

I told you a little about my back injury earlier in this post. Here
is some more information. My doctor is a serious runner who
is about my age. He knows what it is like to go without training.
He, like me, hates to stop training for anything. He never told
me to stop lifting. He told me to do the specialization work for
my hip. At the same time, he said to squat at 50% of normal
training work load. To work it back up to normal load over a
one month period.

Find a doctor that understands athletics. You will be much better
off in the long run.

Cubanito good to hear your back is not broken! I knew you were fine. If it was serious it wouldnt feel better when your done at home later on. BUt rest and be patient. This sport is full of injuries. I have had 3 serious ones. I am ok now (i guess) even thoiugh i feel a new one coming on in my patela tendon. But take it easy and when you come back try to train hard but carefull. There is no doubt you will be gun shy when it comes to back. But it will fade.
