INJURED!!!!!!!, help guys i'm in pain.

oh shit man.. that really sucks.. i hope its nothing serious..
its weird, just the other night, me and my friend were talking about good mornings, and he said that it can be dangerous for your back.. so i took that into consideration cause he had a point, and now with this happening, im kinda scared to try them with heavy weights.....

from personal experiance.. do not try to train.. when i screwed up my hamstring, i still tried to practice football and train.. cause i did that i wasnt able to do legs for 4 months.......just rest up, eat alot, ice it, and dont try to be man and train through the pain... it wont be worth it

I got back from the chiro he sent me to get X-rays now I have to go tommorow morning to get them at 10 b/c they didn't have an opening today, he said that it's better for him not to do anything and he told me put ice on it until i feel it's numb then apply biofreeze.
promotheus-thanks I hope i get better too
seabass-my form was as proper as I always do them the only thing now I know for future reference to wear a belt and this time i didn't stretch i normally always stretch so I have to make sure to do that too, and watch when i'm trying to beat a PR.
southpawse-well they put me outta lifting as of now for 3 days and they said to go back on friday and do nothing but rest until then and put ice, so that's what i'm gonna do.
grimmer-it snapped on the lower back on the left side, i'm takin it serious and as of now i have ice on it.

THE ONE THING THAT I HATE MORE THAN ANYTHING INCLUDING THE PAIN  IS FOR THOSE THAT KNOW ME AND HAVE HEARD ME TALK ABOUT IT MY PARENTS DON'T LIKE ME LIFTIN  AND THIS IS ANOTHER POINT FOR THEM TO TRY AND GET ME TO QUIT. THEY SAY I'M DOING MORE WEIGHT THAN I SHOULD BE DOING AND I THINK IT'S BULLSHIT

alright bro being an expert at low back pain(plus 5 years working the ambulance) and back so bad got a perscription for a hot tub heres my advice:-------ice 15 minutes on 15 off then 20 on 30 off-- repeat-- for the first 24 hours ice as much as can to take swelling down and reduce inflamation that can push on nerves and make things worse. use bc powders , motrim or alieve 2 caps every 4 hours just be carefull if you over do those pills you will hurt your liver. people who attempt suicide with tylenol or anti inflamatories dont die right away they die because they cant find a liver to transplant.-- do not train--- and it sounds like a ligament or sublaxation let us know good luck bro.

Cubanito,

Two years ago I was deadlifting. On a 705 attempt, I felt/heard a pop in my back. I didn't hurt, just tingled. I proceeded to do 735. By the end of the workout it hurt so bad i couldnt walk.

I went through the usual crap with a chiropractor and even a general practitioner MD who said it was a strain.

3 weeks later i got an MRI from an orthopeadic surgeon that said i had herniated 2 discs in my lower back.

Let me offer the following advice:

See an orthopod as soon as you can. An xray CANNOT see a herniated disc. trust me.. i had a bunch of xrays done.

Do NOT trust anyone besides a surgeon who orders an MRI.

IF you have a herniated disc, do not freak out. In most cases, especially when you are young, they will heal themselves over time. The body reabsorbs the material that squirts out. Surgery is only necessary for 2 reasons.

1. cauda equina (not sure about spelling) syndrome where vital nerves are impinged. If you can walk and go to the bathroom ok, you are most likely clear of this.

2. you are in so much pain you can't function.

If you are lucky, you may not have a herniated disc. Maybe they are just bulging and a round of heavy duty anti-inflammatories will do. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is NOT an anti-inflammatory. Aspirin, ibuprofen, and Aleve are examples of anti-inflammatories. Again, let a doctor guide you here.

You know my email. Give me a shout if you want some more advice. I am NOT a doctor, but I know that you SHOULD see a real one as soon as you can unless you wake up tomorrow pain-free.

Also, consider a reverse-hyper machine instead of a car as well as plenty of ab work. I have not had any lower back problems since using the Reverse Hyper rigorously. I am pulling around 7 again.

take care.

sounds like good advice from irishpower -- i had 2 mris and they work great just make sure you can handle tight places they had to give me valium

im supprised at how many people i hear who dont put ice onto an injury ! Got taught at an early age to rest ice compression and elevation (RICE) I know the last time my lower back made its presence felt i grabbed the ice pack and numbed that sucker. Heat is only good after the first 48-72 hours.

A lot of people swear by active release therapy, ive tried to find someone here in Australia that does it but so far havent. My best mate is at a chiro at the moment who is playing around with nerves and the like.

He had some interesting tests that he did to see if certain nerves were impinged or not. One of them was to sit in a chair, bend your elbow so your forearm is 90degrees to your upper arm, then raise it out to the side (kinda like doing shoulder exercises) get someone to press down on the elbow and use your strength to push against it. Then rotate your arm so it points down to the floor and have someone press down again. Through doing this i found that supposedly i have a nerve imballance or impeedment on my right hand side shoulder. Its nothing to do with strenght, purely the signal being sent from your brain to your muscles getting off track or interupted. If he gets any results from this im going to go see his quack.

Cubanito17... Bro, I hope your ok.....That really sucks....I have "strained" my back on a few occasions and could barely move .. much less walk.. It sucks.... I HIGHLY recommend to see a orthopedic and get an MRI if possible... x-rays wont show much for your situation ...
Also great advise from IrishPower ..... Good luck and get some rest....

Allow me to climb aboard the "See a doctor" bandwagon. Ignoring an injury can lead to long term problems, and you are too young to spend the rest of your life regretting not seeing one.

Thanks a bunch for all the replys

tapout I try as much as I can to put ice on it since i'm on spring break from school(sucks cuz I havn't done shit all week) and i've been putting this gel biofreeze and drinking 2 aleves every 4-6 hours, plus some MSM pill, glucosomine chondroitin(sp???), and of course multis and other vitamins.
Irish I wish I woulda known that before I got x-rays this morning well I got them done today and I'll have to wait until tommorow to see how they come out if it says I have nothing there then i'll tell them to fuck off and go to a orthoped and get an MRI. I wish I could get a rev hyper I'm trying to convince parents to let me put it here at home and they don't believe it i even let them read GR8scots articles that he posted(good articles) and I took them to elitefts to read for themselves my mom personally has 3 herniated disks in the L-spine and she doesn't believe anything will help her, but doesn't want to get surgery and constantly complains about the pain. I told her for us to go down to lantana with B.Y. and try it out at his gym but she said "NO".
GR8scot thanks alot for the articles they helped i'm saving them too they might help someone else one day, i'll have to wait until tomm and see what the chiro actually says then if I don't like his response go to an orthoped and see what he says before I do any lifting or start my own recovery, it could fuck me up even more.
vtec how long were you outta the game when it happened to you and did you do anything different to help keep what you had, PM if it's a lil personal.
Arioch yes doctor please jump in.

OK I was reading through that article again and it was saying that wearing a weightlifting belt is a bad idea. Here's the thing i thought that if I woulda worn a belt i would've been fine. When I was doing the good mornings yesterday I didn't wear a belt, although I thought to myself if i would've had it on it would've been good.

What's better in your personal advice, should i first go to the docs and see if he sends me to an orthoped then get on a rev hyper, or get on a rev hyper if i can today to see how it helps out?????
