....for example like a plane crash or broken down in the middle of no where, or lost your way during a hike somewhere like the jungle, mountains, or desert, DO YOU HONESTLY THINK YOU COULD SURVIVE FOR MORE THAN A WEEK IF NO ONE CAME TO RESCUE YOU??
I know I could, ONLY because I have been through 2 different survival courses when I was in the military.
Not only did I grow up in the country hunting and fishing but I took and taught part of a survival course for ROTC in college. I taught Desert survival......
Ask around at work too. Same question you'll get the same B.S. Then ask these.
1. When was the last time you ate something you killed?
2. When was the last time you started a fire with no matches, lighter, magnesium, ect.
3. When was the last time you spent the night out with no tent or sleeping bag?
Then ask what time of year. Most people will be rescued because of others efforts, not survive because of their own. I'm sure some peeps really have some experience but most don't. Peeps on here may well be but a very small percentage. Fit, health conscience, outdoorsy types are fewer and farther between than fat, clueless, sheeple.
The "Survivor" contestants get some training before they go and they still struggle to make a fire. I think many people give themselves way more credit than deserved. I'm an avid outdoorsman and I have used skills like these many times but it all gets more serious when it's raining, you're hurt, and don't have anything with you. That's why it's called survival.

1. On the weekend, red snapper.
2. About 3 months ago, spent some time with a Santa Cruz surfer and Big Sur legend, he showed me the bow and other friction techniques.
3. Recently, been swimming over to the local islands, Samae San Noi and Monkey Island. Spent an overnight tripping, it's warm enough to sleep without a bag or tent but you'd need a mossie net to doss or its no fun.
