according to the fda, due to mercury levels, you shouldn't eat a lot of canned tuna

our government agency like the fda(forget the name) said thats only a warning for children and pregnant women, and mainly a problem in the older fish

i read a good story on this in some literary journal my folks get...apparently the tuna industry has been really fighting the bad plubcity, denying a lot of the ill effects...this article specifically said the american fda has declared that 2 cans is the max a dude should eat in a weak, a chic like a can and a half, or 1.5 to you kanadian toolio's :nerd:

Well, I figure that I gave up smoking, toking, and drinking...I might as well have my cholestrol and my tuna.

ive read it but honestly anything put out by the fda who write what they want and allow certain things based on political agendas is worth no more then tp to me.

pick the needle back up son the tuna is killing you

Doesn't anyone like those pouches/packs of tuna, rather than the cans? If you are only eating it a few times a week, the extra cost isn't too bad. I got some Starkist tuna steaks (lightly seasoned) in the pouch tonight, had a dollar coupon on it. Was 1.99 - but its lunch while out of town working. I'm going to crumble it on a salad tomorrow.

For a change from Tuna, I usually cook up a big batch of 96% lean ground beef (2lbs), 1 box of Zatarain's Dirty Rice mix, 1 can Muir Glen Fire Roasted tomatoes, 1 packet of Chi Chi's Restaurant seasoning. I add garlic powder, cumin, cinnamon, spaghetti seasoning, basil or oregano.

Cook beef to brown, at 96% lean I don't drain it or it would be as dry as a popcorn fart, Add tomato, packet of Chi Chi's and Zatarain's. Add 1 cup water and add more as necessary until rice is done. :)

i don't like ground beef that lean, so dry after you cook it...personally i like sirloin at 90% lean...and the cost of the pouches has dettered me from ever getting them, plus the serving size is smaller

I like poached chicken breast and just about anything, in particular sweet potatoes and broccoli ... haven't gotten sick of that yet, but I also pair it with broccoli and good olive oil, or oatmeal, or new potatoes and green beans, or mixed wild/brown rice and mixed veggies ....

Tuna falls under "emergency protein only" category due to mercury, I have problems with heavy metals, myself.
