A good place to start is probably your lifestyle. Why do you hate the gym? I bet you can't give 1 good reason why you "can't" workout. Eat healthy and get active or you are wasting your body's energy even worrying about getting in shape..

Buy an ipod if you don't already have one - at the very least you can walk up an incline and listen to music to drop some kilos. Running to music for me is a pleasure (because you can't hear yourself breath, you often think your exerting less effort than you actually are, so it encourages you to try harder). For weights I find music a distraction for free weights.

Used to be the same way. Here is how you get past that. Dont think of it as work, think of it as a test of who you are. Think of new goals every workout, more reps, more weight, etc. You'll feel better when you start nailing these goals, take small steps though. Give it 3 months, I hated the first 3 months in the gym, then when people started saying all sorts of shit about how I was changing or growing I soaked it up like a sponge!! Then I enjoyed the gym. Now I'm a freak who cant stop, and cant go anyplace w/out a cooler of food, go figure, hahahah
