Plus boxing 5 days a week, sparring 3 days a week running jogging 2 days a week sprinting 2 days a week

taking multi vitamin, glutamine, and two pro blend 55 protein shakes a day. Eating 6- 7 clean meals a day, with fri. and sat. as cheat days. Drinking 3 gallons of water a day and 1 gallon of milk a day. Lots of steak chicken and tuna and peanut butter. 8 hrs sleep a night.

I'm 22 6' 200 with a little gut on me. Will this program get me into shape? Seeing that I am boxing, I will only be able to lift twice a week. What should my weight go to or drop to in the next three months?

If your boxing includes lots of sparring, running, jumping rope, situps, pushups, and pullups, like the traditional boxing programs do, then I would think your wbodyweight should reduce drastically in the next 3 months.

What are you trying to do? This is the powerlifting board. I used to fight, as did Powerlifterjay, and B-Fold the Truth, and some of the guys still do fight, so there are people that can answer your fighting questions as well as your strength training questions, but I am not real sure what you are after.

Well in my mid to late teens i messed around boxing for fun. But fought because that is what i trained for. I actually had a 13-1 record, but numerous non sanctioned fights. And those by the way were way more fun. The amatuers is very strict ruled. Anyway forget the boxing past , as far as working out goes i had hit weights since i was 13 on and off. But my reps were always around 8 to 10. But when i was in real training for a fight or just getting serious for a bit i hardly lifted at all. Wheni did i did bench, bi's, tris, and back in my workout twice a week. That was it. Workout lasted 30 to 45 min tops. If i was a fighter now of course my weight training would be different but i would have a hard time staying loose. So what ever you do reps higher.

Let me tell you one thing though. And it was someting my wife noticed. I went to the gym 4 days a week 2 hrs a session. I would always spar it was my favorite. But... getting hit in the head 50 to 75 times a night (slow night) really took its toll. And i dont mean light sparing for fitness i mean real fight training. You will become very different in that time. I got stories were getting popped good then coming home half way fucked up took its toll.

Dont mean to be long winded- here is why i retired.
I moved to south Florida and my coach was very upset that i left. I was going ot try to get on as a sparring partner for Hector Macho Camacho. BUt got to workin and negleted my traiing for a bit. They had boxing extravaganza at the lee civic center and The coach down there called me up and said hey yuo wanna fight? 4 fights in 4 days and it will be televised. I said fuck ya! Well keep in mind i hadnt put glove or hit a bag in a couple of months, maybe longer. The first night i won my match. Decision. I seemd to have lost the cripsness off my punches. I was stale. 2 nd day another decision. I went home and coudnt hold my head up. I was hurt bad. Next day won a 2nd round KO. Now i am visiably fucked up bad! I cant hold my head up , my vision is blurred and i am tired. Last day won decision a hard one. I got floored bad in round 1. Had trouble holding my head up and got caught. But sucked it up and fought like my life depended on it. The guy i was fighting his coach was the ref! They made me wear 10ounce gloves and he had 8ounce. Anyway the only reason i won these is becasue the people in my opinion were not as skilled at the time. We all had records that were the same. But i fought back door chicken fights we called them and also traveled to other places to fight guys. When it was all done i had a concusion , wip lash so bad i still feel it (not really), my left hand was broke, and my eyes were swollen shut for ..wel what seemd months. I was tired of always coveringmy face with glasses , and my family didnt want to watch anymore. I went up to my mom and wife after the last fight and my mom was crying. There like get paid or get out of this sport. So my coach said cool got me a gig to sign with main event boxing and i would get 50,000 for one year. I fought who they said and when. Basically up coming prospects. You knwo when you see a fight and one guy has no chance of winnning against some golden boy. Well i would have been the opponent. You cant train hard cause you fight every 3 weeks or so unlkess you get knocked out then you get 30 days off. Fuck that!

Sorry for long post. But that is my 2 cents on boxing. Good sport for fitness and amatuers if your trained right its fun. But get out of shape and what was once fun can turn dam near tragic in an instant.

I noticed that before the Lennox Lewis vs Hashem Rahman fight , Hashem could bench 365 for a couple of reps. So maybe some heavies here and there would be fine. I knwo i read somewhere else that Ken Shamrock (different sport) did his traiing on Hammer Strength machines and did reps of 30 to 50. I don tthink you will find one certain way to train , everyone adds what they need.

YOu are talking about weights right?

Boxing and lifting combined can be very tough on the shoulders especially. I remember in highschool backyard fights often the shoulders got hit a lot and it was tough to bench and curl the next day from all the shoulder wear/pain from boxing.

I think that boxing is probably the toughest and most brutal sport to compete in. Strongman compeitions would also have to be up there although I have never competed I did the training a few times.

Although sportscasters often call basketball players the "best athletes" this is far from the truth.
