Hello all!

For maximum hypertrophy how much reps/weight should I do for side abs? (obliques)

I do 60 pound dumbells for 12 reps

or

90-100 pounds dumbells for ~6 reps? Which is the best ?

Reply please!

Thanks!

One of the greatest excersises I was tought to do was horseshoe cable crunches to the side. If you have ever seen a bodybuilder do an oblique pose it almost looks as if he is crunching to one side. This can be mimicked on the cable machine. Stand in front of a cable machine and grab the horseshoe attatchment. I usually do 50-70 lbs. Look forward and with the handle next to your ear crunch to on side, keeping your upper torso straight. You can experiment with different angles, but if you do this in front of a mirror it should look exactly like the posing you would do to show your obliques in a show. This movement at the end of your ab workout is nasty. Not to many people do them, but they work big time. 3 sets 12-15 reps.
