LOL. Maybe GL started something here with this thread.
I am watching Kevin Levrone's DVD, Maryland Muscle Machine, and all of his lifts (when going heavy) are all the the 4 to 6 range. For example, his flat bench work starts off with 225x8, 315x6, 405x5, and ends with 500x4 and that's it for flat. He does other exercises but the heavy stuff stay in the low rep range. For that matter, so are Ronnie's heavy lifts and the real heavy stuff is just 1 rep so I guess it aint all that bad to lift heavy in the low rep range.

ya, Ronnie may do a bunch of isolation BB type stuff, but he still trains the core lifts hard. Heavy deads, Squats etc. His youtube videos are always funny and impressive to watch at the same time.

yea his lifts are fricken nuts! I was watching a vid were Brian said that if he wanted to he could maybe be one of the world's best powerlifters too. I would def agree. His lifts are ( from what I can think of ) something like 495x5 bench, 800x2 squat, 800x2 dead. Also a 2300 leg press x7. Without specifically training for those lifts and raw ( except squat ) that's some huge numbers if you consider what it would be like if he had trained for a PL meet.

+1

havent tested a 1rm bench in two years. i could put up 225x3 back then. no idea. i'd say at least 255x1

Can anyone explain why people in videos arch their back HELLA and just touch the arched part? So it goes down like 6 inches and also bring it down SLOW as hell?

You just answered your own question. The arched back allows for a shorter distance and also you are able to incorporate more muscle groups in addition to the chest muscles to aid in the pressing of the weight. It's a powerlifting aproach to benching.

That seems more like cheating....At least the shorter distance...
