Just wondering... I worked out Legs pretty hard on weds morning, and it is all i kind do to get out of a chair still today? Now should i wait to work legs again till soreness is gone, or do i still do them tomorrow like planned?

Thanks all.

It depends on what musclegroup you have trained.

Different muscles have different compositions of fast to slow twitch fibers and, as a rule, larger muscle groups (i.e. legs, back, chest) will take longer to recover and will stay more sore for longer periods of time.

Quads/hams are the worst for most people as far as recovery goes. It's not uncommon for mine to stay sore for several days after a good leg session, usually peaking in soreness the second day after.

On the other hand, smaller muscle groups tend to recover much quicker and stay sore for shorter periods (i.e. calves, abs, arms).

However, if you are sore, do not train that bodypart! It will be counterproductive! You grow outside the gym, don't train legs any more than once per week...they will need the recovery.

you heard it from a pro BB
only thing I could add is stretching will assist in relieving soreness- training contracts muscles, stretching lengthens- cardio will help in blood flow to get muscles to recover- if you're going for mass & size, you could just do light cardio
and eat well.

I do chest on Monday and am still sore on Friday. A hard leg day will get me sore for nearly a week.

It all depends on the muscles.

hardgainer (sore and gaining)

it also depends on your split and how many exercises you do..im currently using a 2-1-2-1 split..and im usually most sore 2 days after i hit a muscle group...a couple of years ago when i traned just 3 days a week..i was sore 7 days after training a musclegroup.go figure

Yeah I agree I think it depends on what your doing to the muscle group. If your really jacked and your training balls to the wall with basic high NMA exercises going to failure on every single one I think it will take days to recover your muscular system and even longer to recover your nervous system. That's why many people will advise against training to failure. Simply because your nervous system can only take so much of heavy training. Thats just my opinion I could be wrong. :D
