How Cute is My Husband on Injectible Test!!!

musclemom said:
Absolutely, it's really mostly mental. My husband uses 23 g. needles, he was shocked at how easy it was to stick himself. It's just physically hard when it came to depressing the plunger (I thought he was yanking my chain until he said, "HERE, you do it." HOLY shit that stuff's thick!). It's a lot easier if someone else can do it from a leverage perspective.

The patch may work for your dad. What's important is that he finds a positive way to take care of himself. Being over 50 does not mean you have to be depressed, or lack energy or enthusiasm for life. My husband is only 5 years younger than your dad, and he's acting like he did more than 10 years ago, in every respect.

Run some hot water over syringe for a couple minutes before injecting. Or place vial itself in hot water for a few. I had the same problem and it helped alot. Also helped with the post injection pain.

I just read the story about your husband -- I just would like you to know that your statement about blood testing before an antidepressant is prescribed -- RIGHT ON THE MONEY !!!! There is a large amount of data that suggests antidepressants are overprescribed when testosterone deficiency is present. WELL WRITTEN !!!

This is so cute I have to share, seriously.

My husband just didn't do well on transdermal test. cream. His doc put him on every two week injectible test but he was crashing too hard in the second week, so the doctor was talking about inserting pellets. We did some reading (finding the best info right here in this very forum), and hubby didn't really care for what he read about the pellets, so he decided to face his fears and go with the once a week injectible test. His doctor taught him how to do his own glute injection yesterday.

Now the thing is, my husband has had a mild needle phobia his entire life, but the HRT makes him feel "more better" than the fear scares him. If he said "Honey, I shot myself in the ass with a needle!!!" once yesterday, he must have said it five times!!! I'm actually proud of him; I know that sounds silly, but it was a big step for him and seeing how much happier he is since getting his levels up to where they finally should be is such a joy! Actually, his levels are in the 1300s (he's 53), the man's got more wood than a lumbar-yard :lmao:

It's amazing the difference it's made in his mental outlook!!! I'll never understand why doctors don't check hormone levels (in both men and women) before they even consider prescribing antidepressants! This is the absolute truth: One year ago, he was so bleak that his GP had written him a prescription for Lexapro. If it wasn't for the things I learned on EF, which got me to ask him to get his hormones checked before he went on more drugs, he would have started taking antidepressants :worried:

agree 100%--the right amount is life changing

dude my MOM got on test and it's like night and day... she suffers from chronic arthritis hip problems, depression (prozac for 10 years), since shes' been taking estratest (estrogen and 2.5mg methyltestosterone) she says she feels like she's 20 again, she still has the pain but it's a lot more manageable now, her memory is improving, she has hope for herself again, the prozac just made her numb and kept her from making progress in life.

jesus enough with the drugs and just put back what nature's cruelty takes out.

not to mention the beneficial effects on osteoporosis and bone density.

I'm new here, 54 yr old post menopausal and got the draggy ass. Fat in the middle, hypertension, all that stuff.

I'm investigating T cream for women.

I got a T pellet a few years ago and felt WONDERFUL for six months.
However the anti-aging doc that does that is one of these people that has so many different therapies that she bombards ya with em, and it gets really expensive -- HGH, vitamins, Myers IVs, chelation, yada yada......I think about 80% of what she prescribes is BS, maybe 10 or 20% helps. Or maybe she' s just greedy....???

Got my internist to prescribe t cream at 4 mg/ml. Bikinimom said her endo in Dallas gives women 12-16 mg/day.
I started doing 2 cc/day, instead of 1 cc/day of the cream, plus I was using a bit of Andractim cream. The Andractim by itself really didn't do anything I could tell.
However, in 3 days of using double dose of t cream, my sleep schedule changed totally.
Before: I could sleep 14 hours a day straight. I could go to bed at 2 am, and get up at 4 pm.
Now: I hit the sack at 12 midnight and get up at 7-thirty, may take a 2 hr nap at siesta time when it's too hot to do anything else. A world of difference!

I have had low thyroid since I was 11 years old so I have argued with Endos. I insist on Armour Thyroid, the docs hate it. It's natural and cheap. They pull a switcheroo and put me on Synthroid and I raised HELL. It's not the same. One idiot doc in San Antonio took me COMPLETELY OFF thyroid when I was almost out of college. I dragged around for five years before I got back on it, and almost died!!! I was near a coma, is what the doctor said that saw me. I had myxedema which is severe puffy face from lack of thyroid.

My mom had the hypothyroid hit her when she was eleven years old as well, and she started taking Armour back in the Dark Ages. Thanks for those autoimmune diseases, Mom!! Grandma had an overactive thyroid and was bossy as hell. She thought everyone else was lazy. The Thyroid Fairy was NOT good to me or to mom.

So I've always been a fairly low energy person, never had enough energy for what our society thinks you shouldbe able to do (standard is a High T male with lots of stamina). When I was working, I would put in 8 hours and come home and crash HARD. In grade school, I came home and crashed for three or four hours every afternoon.

I'm convinced the answer is T, and lots of it. The damn FDA won't approve anything T for women. I think it's sexism. They don't want women to be strong, confident and aggressive! All the research I've read goes on and on about older women and sex drive -- HORRORS!! I have a steady man of fifteen years and I can use the increased libido. Mainly I just want to have enough energy to do ANYTHING, and confidence and stamina to follow through.

It is CRIMINAL that docs don't prescribe T for osteoporosis, muscle wasting, to burn fat, better outlook on life, etc. They prescribe anti-depressants which in my estimation, help a bit, but not much.

Am waiting for some oral Andriol to come thru.

Don't want anything that has a long life in the bloodstream in case my gyno is bent out of shape.

MM,
That is wonderful news all the way around!! I KNOW what you mean when its night and day! I have been on 200mg/ml a week and I am feeling fantastic, with good energy and ready to eat. I have a good awareness around me and are more focused througout the day. I am not fatigued, nor have a lack of sexula drive and thats $$ in the bank. I am really amazed at how much knowledge people here on EF have over Dr.s in general when it comes to HRT. I hope he will continue to be active in HRT for his wellness. PEACE!!

MM, when you say your husband didn't do well on the cream, was it that his levels didn't improve? How long was he on the cream before switching?

I just saw an endo this morning for the first time... my natty test levels have always been low, so I'm about to take the plunge... having more bloodwork tomorrow and then we see if it's TRT or clomid, etc. Hopefully the former, not the latter. The doctor mentioned if I go onto TRT, it'd be the gel form. Everything I've heard about the gel is not promising, so hopefully I can convince him to put me on injectable.

Injections are best, but rarely prescribed outside of clinics. Topicals are more common. I had good luck. Even Androgel pushed all my numbers and was easy to use.
