Yoga ball was too small to be useful :s Still can't go to the gym, hope fully Sunday and Monday I can swim and workout...
(This is starting to feel like a monologue)
Lo siento!!! We are seriously slacking in this thread.
I understand what you're saying about the gym.
I have ALWAYS had a hard time getting to the gym. Missouri weather is the WORST. My schedule is always INSANE.
I came up with some ways to stay on track with or without the gym. Plus, it keeps my body guessing since its all so random.
I go to the gym 2 or 3 times a week but do a bunch of stuff at home, school and work.
I made some "rules" of habit. When I'm at work:
If I drop a patient off at the hospital, I do 10 pushups in the EMS lounge before I get back on the ambulance (I drop of several patients a day when I'm working).
I ALWAYS take the stairs when going to pick up a patient. When you consider that the bag I usually carry weighs about 70 pounds, it really gets the heart rate up. It's funny because on emergency calls, I always get to the patient faster than the EMS workers taking the elevator because its "faster",lol.
On the days I don't work (like when I'm in school):
I do pushups as soon as I wake up. I have a certain way that I do them, but usually equals a total of 50.
If I don't get to the gym, I run on my treadmill.
I mix this up,2. Once a week, I do a long, slower jog for about 40 minutes. The other days that I use the threadmill, I alternate with timed intensity stuff (kinda like HIIT).
I also do tabata stuff with dumbells. This is GREAT for the legs, arms, back....well, almost everything. Really helps with the heavy lifting I need to do at work (HEAVY patients..always live on the 3rd floor and REFUSE to walk. Its a rule).
It's easy to get some stuff done. Just think of some things that might work for YOU because we are all a little different.
BUT if you need a rest day, TAKE IT. If not, your body will punish you for it later.
