I am 6'1, 195lbs. 21 years old, around 11% b.f. I've been lifting for around 4-5 years now on and off and I stay right around this size. I follow a hardgainer style routine. 3 days a week, low volume high intensity, minimal cardio, strict diet. My goals are to put on a little more muscle mass without going through a bulking phase, basically through a high protien keto diet. Just want to add a little lean muslce mass.I know next to nothing about powerlifting aside from that fact thats its based on the 3 power movements. Im wondering if trying this out will shock my body and give me a little more muscle. Im a real wirey lean guy who doenst put on weight very easily, could power lifting help give me a little boost, more so then my existing routine???

Thanks,
BobbyJ

plifting is a competetive sport -- not something you try out to shock some more muscle out of your body. A powerlifters goals are to be as strong as possible and to compete at the three core lifts. Most powerlifters couldn't care less about their muscle mass, bodyfat percentage, or dieting.

So probably, it's not for you -- however, squat bench and deads are all great exercises. You should use them in your routine no matter what your goals are.

I dont think a keto diet is the best way to put on mass.

I'm 6', about 185-190lbs, and a hardgainer as well. I switched to powerlifting a few months back, but not because I felt like it would help me gain more mass. I do intend to get bigger and stronger, but I'm going to bulk like a madman to do it. I've tried clean bulking, moderate bulking, and now I'm just going to eat as much as I can to try and pack on the weight. I have no intention of staying at a high b/f%, but 10-12% is fine for me.

There are plenty of different splits to follow. If you're just looking for a different split, I'd say look up Corn's old school routine.

Thanks for the responses... I think ill stick to my routine which of course encompasses squats, deads, and bench. Im simply looking to gain some quality muscle without bulking like a maniac. I know this is VERY though (gaining while dieting) but im not talking 30lbs on my frame here, just a few lbs. of solid lean muslce.
