genetic limitations

I know it is virtually impossible for all people to get HUGE unless they have the right genetics, but what about a Men's Health type of physique? Is that doable with good diet and training, or is that even hoping for too much?

neither one are impossible with bad genitics

two people come to mind.....Frank Zane and Franco Columbo

and guess what...... frank was a 3 time Mr. Olympia and Franco was a 2 time champ.

neither one had great genitics...... but they researched read and gave their heart and soul into their training....... and thus a great result.

mens health will be a lot eaiser to obtain...... just read.....(magazines dont count).......... books.... by credible aurthors...... knowledge is the key to all things

good luck

yep i agree. Knowledge = power. Read and read then read some more then train :p

But a mess health fysique is very hard to obtain also especially if you want to look like that all year round. You have to have the genetics for the washboard abs (me gets on knees and wishes for some of those genetics :D). Dont know about how true this is if your on juice though.

I have to disagree. I believe genetics play a much larger part in what you can do with your body. Yes, by professional bodybuilding standards, Frank and Franco had sub-par genetics. But I'd give my left nut for either one.

Everyone can improve their physiques and general health, no exceptions. But you really have no control over how your body responds to diet and excercise, even with gear. Best you can do is to get as close to your personal potential as you can.

Many genetic limitations cannot be changed no matter how hard you train. Limb/torso length, bone thickness, length of muscles and insertion of muscle bellies, height etc.....

If these things are not right then you will never look like Men's Health type of figure, but you can still look the best YOU possibly can with hard work, diet, rest.

i agree.... you cant change your genitics...... thats wasnt what i was trying to elude too.....

i will try to clear it up.......... i am natural but lets talk about pro's..... lets forget about their steriods and just assume they are all natural

kevin levrone has the most impressive tricep i have seen on a man before..... but his bicep is lagging........ its not bad..... its just lagging....... and the boy probably has 22inch arms or more...... but no matter what he does, he will never have the round high peak on his bicep as flex wheeler........ so........ although kevin's bicep peak is about the same as his shoulders...... doesnt mean he has bad biceps...... but he doesnt have great genitics for a high peaking bicep...... so he mad do with what he had.... his tricep..... and made them the biggest in bodybuilding

does that make any sense when i say that genitics dont cant stop you?

i hope so

True, true Exodus. I have seen dwarfs on a BB stage that had some incredible muscle development. But let's face it, they look like circus freaks no matter how much mass they put on. The "Men's Health" look is a very specific kinda look (just like women's fitness look) that you either have the genetics to attain or not. As nutritionally innovative as he is, even Lyle McDonald could not achieve a "Men's Health" look with his allotment of genetics, nor could someone like Andrulla Blanchette ever have that drop dead gorgeous fitness chick look.

I disagree. Look at Kim Chizevsky. She went from beast-woman to goddess. Why couldn't Andrulla pull that off too? It's all about how you train. If you wish a cerain look, then you can attain it. Perhaps, you can't become the best in a certain area, but you can definitely be a contender. Maybe I'm naive, since I grow easily, but I think that anyone, with the proper diet, training and supplementation, can look like Tito Raymond and he's in M&F all the time. It's not like he's a huge, vascular beast or anything. He's just kind of athletic looking.

Grizzly,
I agree with you to a certain extent, BUT, do you look like tito raymond. If it was attainable the way you make it sound then It would not be so rare. Either way you should just worry about becoming the very best that you possibly can and not worry about others.
