Gallon of milk a day - questions for those of you that do this

die faster

New member
i started putting on some fat when i started doing this. im trying to straighten out my diet without slowing my progress at all. im getting alot of things in my diet figured out, but idk what to do about the milk.

should i switch to 2%? should i only drink a half gallon? skim milk? idk i feel like im pussing out if i switch to skim milk. bloat isnt the issue here, its putting on fat. im 5'7 205 right now. i was 213 at about 15-16% bodyfat, and i feel at 200 ill be right around 9-10%

so what would you guys do about this?

I started doing that a year ago, and the same thing happened to me. Granted I wasn't doing much cardio at the time, but I seemed to gain more fat weight than I was comfortable with. I would think that going down to 2% would almost defeat the purpose of drinking all the milk.

I think is dumb to dring a galon.
Why would you? There r much better protein sources.
Lactose is the bad guy, 50g per liter. Go figure

yeah i usually stay away from cardio when im bulking, so what did you do? just quit drinking the milk?

night wolf its not just about the protein, its the fats, cholesterol, everything. and yeah all the casein doesnt hurt either

Its about caloric intake folks. I think this is an often overlooked method of making great gains. I have had more success with GOMAD than some light cycles and still try and do this once a year, usually towards winter when I don't mind putting on a few extra. (Also awesome in combination with AS).

You could drop to 2% but you are going to drop a good portion of the calories you get with whole milk. You will put on some fat doing this there is no way around it; this is not a method of putting lean gains. You can still do cardio man when bulking just not crazy cardio. I would run a mile 3x a week with gomad and this seemed to help with some of the bloat you get from it.

The good news is that once you stop it you lose that bloat in a matter of days usually, but yeah you will have to work a little fat off but nothing bad in my exp. It has been the worth the gains to me but I guess everyone is different.

Oh and to the haterz STFU if you don't know what you are talking about dont say anything at all.

yeah i made really great gains when i started this. but like i said the bloat doesnt really concern me cause i can lose that in a couple days. its just that its summer time, my friends are always trying to go out swimming, to the cliffs, the beach, pools, we have alot of nice places to swim around here (orange county area, ny) i dont want to be above 12% bodyfat. so im trying to straighten out my bulking diet for the summer. so i might switch to 1/3 gallon, or 1/2 gallon. just looking for oppinions on this, maybe if i add in somthing else instead ? idk kinda new to worrying about fat

skim milk is going to give you a good dose of protein for a ton less calories and it only tastes gross for a few days and then you get hooked! i have no idea if the following is true but would love to hear comments:

"Whole milk contains vitamins A and D in the butterfat, aiding in assimilation of protein and calcium found in the rest of the milk. When the butterfat is removed, the body needs to take vitamins from its reserves to absorb the protein and calcium in skim milk. Therefore, drinking only skim milk actually contributes to nutritional deficiencies as the body depletes its vitamin stores in order to make use of the skim milk."

i drink 2+ liters per day of fat free milk so i hope this is bunk!!!!!! :worried:

yeah the fat in milk also lowers the glyemic index of the lactose. even when im cutting ive never noticed anyhting bad from whole milk when i keep it to a small amount, half a gallon a day or less.
