This will be a long journal. I hope it will last less than 7 months, but somehow I doubt it. Win, lose or draw, I'll do my best and say 'come what may'. This is my road to a 600 pound deadlift.
For the last week and a half I've been deloading after pushing a bit too hard. For now it's gonna be WSB - who knows what else will enter the mix down the road. Let the fun begin....
Phase One: WSB
Week 1 -- Monday
Warmed up with OH Squats - worked up to a triple w/ 165 and I coulda done more. I worked on these quite a bit while deloading. These are shooting up weekly and are very fun to do.
ME Box Squat
wamrups
Triples with 275, 315, 365
Singles w/ 405, 465, 465xfail, 435
-I was going for three singles @ 90% intensity, but these days I'm settling on the box a bit more. The change has clearly made this lift tougher. That just means that I'll progress more quickly on it, and probably get more carryover to my dead. However, now that I think about it I may have been too upright, and after reading this article I think that I'm initiating the lift with my hips and then drivng my head back, when it should be the other way around. I'll pay close attention to it on Friday's DE box squats.
RDLs
worked up to 315x5x3 [I write weight x reps x sets, by the way, so this was three sets of five reps at 315]
-Easy, intentionally.
Then I did some goofball back extensions by just lying facedown on the floor and lifting my head/torso as high as I could for a few sets of 10+ reps. I started doing these when my back was hurting last week and they seemed to help by a notable degree. I would have done some decline situps but some douchebag was making it his mission to do countless sets of 'em with the only decline bench at my gym. It doesn't take much to get me to skip abs, so I left at this point.
