Absolutely the most defining factor in my delt improvements bar NONE. Do Tripple drops on lateral raises as well as Reverse Cables for Posterior Delts. KILLER!

...could you point me to a detailed description of Time Under Tension? I see it mentioned in your plan for frisky, and understand the theory I think.. are they the same as Statics? Paused Contractions? (waiting to be poked in the eye for being a crappy search user... ;) )

sometimes we will do 4 reps on a 12 TUT as well
 
I think it also forces you to watch your form because you can't use momentum to cheat. I see so many people at the gym slapping through a set going fast fast fast & they really aren't breaking down any muscle, but they apparently are prepared to go spend mega bucks in physical therapy for tendonitis & other various pulls & strains.

Shads... a 12 TUT follows the same ratio for pos/neg? ie: 4sec/8sec? Is there any positive research about that mythical last rep 'let down as slow as you can until yer eyes launch out of their sockets'? I have been doing 2up 4back for as long as i can remember.. didn't know I was doing a good thing, just didnt know any other way! LOL...

Also, Shadow, one more if ya got time: i see that you have TUT on most of the sets/exercises EXCEPT for the TripleDrops... is that right? (my whole reason for asking is I would like to do very much what you outlined for Frisky on the previous pages for 5 weeks before i go back to speed training, its time to rebuild some strength and mass now that my endurance is way the hell up and this looks like just the beast to do it :) )

Sassy: yes, momentum fools and 'swingers' are assnozzles that deserve the rehab bills they will get, but i have been doing fast rep-quick circuit stuff under some VERY strict supervision and its really changed my fatigue times for the better like you woulnt believe...

Chef......although the 6 TUT isnt strictly defined on the driop sets.....the reps should still be 4-6 seconds each with minimal time between the drops


the 12 TUT can be 4, 8 or even 6,6.....rememebr that you are 30% stronger n the negative than on the positive so I like to have a longer TUT for the negative "portion"


I have seen two studies on contracted position holds......drastic increases in strength, both on the "hold" AND thru the ENTIRE ranger of motion.

Yesterday at the gym there is this huge guy..... I MEAN HUGE! Doing Bicep curls and sorry but it took all I had in me to not ask what the purpose of grabbing the 80lb dumbells was if he could only do half reps and in those half reps he was using his other arm to complete the motion.. wtf???
Oh did I mention the loud grunting... "You one strong mofo" YES.. he was saying that :rolleyes:

Im pretty strong for my size but I train within my limits.......usually once a week a 150 pound skater dude will want to work in......last time I was doing incline db presses.....I wamed up witht e 75's....

Today was SUPPOSED to be the start of a whole new diet for me... Unfortunately I have been laid up going on three days now with the migraine from hell. Stayed in my PJ's for the entire day yesterday, didn't make it to the grocery store to get the much needed supplies to stack up for the week.

Besides the fact that it feels like I have vise grip pliers attached to my head and someone keeps tightening them.... I am now sensitive to light sound and yes.. even chewing. My diet today will prolly consist of lots of liquids and barely any thing worth eating.

blah....... not a way to start a week!

Depends - could take 1-3 hours. For me at the point you are it coukd take up to two days but I've been taking the meds for some time.
You really should get your meds and go home.

Drink a lot of black coffee right now.

Get your pills, go home, take a hot shower - just let the water pour over your head, lay down and put some ice or an ice pack on your head and if you can stand it the backside of your neck.
 
Coffee is going down as much as I can stand it. Nina hasn't returned my call yet. Gonna keep calling, of course they are crazy busy on Monday's.

I did the shower thing yesterday, but only meds I had were pain pills lying around and basic tylenol and such... damn stubborn me should have called the doc at the first moment I started feeling it coming on.

Hopefully he won't need to see me.. blah! And as soon as this project they are hoovering over me for is done I'm outta here!
 
Vel knows the deal, Frisky. slightly elevating your knees, by putting a small pillow under them can relieve some pressure on your spine.. the coffee is an excellent call as well as caffeine was a major ingredient of most early migraine remedies.. like Caffergot... and still is.

You mentioned you have some funky reactions to opiates? Keep your water intake as high as you can manage and evenly split you carbs up while in mid headache.. oh, and that red wine you had before the shower might have been a questionable call.. the tanins in reds are not good for vascular headaches. If the alchohol helps you, try a little bit of something in a mixed drink...or better yet, do some tea with some booze in it.. vaso diolators like fennel tea or best yet: fresh ginger tea with a bit of bourbon and some maple syrup to sweeten it just a TOUCH would be way better in this situation than red wine...

Vel knows the deal, Frisky. slightly elevating your knees, by putting a small pillow under them can relieve some pressure on your spine.. the coffee is an excellent call as well as caffeine was a major ingredient of most early migraine remedies.. like Caffergot... and still is.

You mentioned you have some funky reactions to opiates? Keep your water intake as high as you can manage and evenly split you carbs up while in mid headache.. oh, and that red wine you had before the shower might have been a questionable call.. the tanins in reds are not good for vascular headaches. If the alchohol helps you, try a little bit of something in a mixed drink...or better yet, do some tea with some booze in it.. vaso diolators like fennel tea or best yet: fresh ginger tea with a bit of bourbon and some maple syrup to sweeten it just a TOUCH would be way better in this situation than red wine...

Have you be diagnoised with migraines?

They might not give you med without that and if they give you something for a headache they might give you butabital which is an opiate.

Funny... as I open this thread I am on hold telling them they HAVE to do something, as I need to head home and here at work I am closer to the office and Home is 30mins away. Dr. has my chart and is reviewing as we speak.. FINALLY!

Was Diagnoised a few years ago.. but change in insurance so change in doctors so... he may need me to go in :( I also get cluster headaches and headaches associated with TMJ.. though with the others I normally don't get all this sensitivity to light, sound etc.

the sides i get from opiats, I would say are bad for me but only cause I can't stand to feel like I am moving 90miles an hour and getting NO Where. Nothing crazy, just hypes me up for some reason. Reverse reaction as to what It should do, I think... assbackwards.. LOL.

they suck! Get the TMJ ones more often than the othere.. haven't had a headache like this for a good 6 months.

I HAVE to get a mouth piece for when trainging.. LOL .. now not only will I be making funny noises, sweating like a pig, but I'll have this big thing in my mouth making me look twice as approachable ;)
 
Vel.. Just called back, Nina is calling in a script of Imitrex. I've never taken this one, Do you know anything about it?

It's a migraine abortive med - works for a lot of people.
If you see no signs of improvement call the doctor back (should take about 2-4 hours).

How many MG?

100MG says I can take one now and if it persists take another in 2 hours.. but only max of 2 in a 24 hr peorid.

So if the 2 doesn't kick it I will have to either wait 24hrs or call him back.

No sleepy for me.... can't even lie my head down with out feeling like here is a tug boat sitting on it rocking back and forth.. all light off no sound... :( no luck

On to my second pill.. then after this its suffer till I can take more in 24hrs. Able to put down a little easy to chew foods to keep me going. But nothing to brag about.

OH and did I mention I look like death warmed over.. :worried: Got a glimps at myself in the mirror and liked to piss myself.. OMG.. no wonder my boss was like.. GO GO.. NO!....... GO NOW.....

The head is a wonderful thing until it is ready to burst :bawling:

So the food I decided to eat... BAD CHOICE... my stomach declined he invitation and up they come..

If you can try and eat some white rice - the stickier the better and plain.
And when that's settled and you don't feel like you're gonna hurl sip hotwater, plain hot water.

The hot shower followed by the ice pack can help improve circulation and what you need is your blood to flow - the lack of it causes pain.

If you can stand it and have a handheld shower wand you can run cold water over your head after the hot shower before you get out of the shower.

I've put so much ice on my head before that the pain of the cold give me something else to focus on.

Off to do that now, and I do have a shower wand... and I have the rice cooking, ou.. first white rice in ages :verygood: . I'll do just about anything right now, cold water, ice, anything to get my mind off of my exploding head.

Was able to get a little rest... Woke a few times well.. every two hours to be exact.. bah.

pain still lingering a bit but its eased up some. Able to hold down a little food... finally!

Last night decided I needed as much blood flow as humanly possible.. that and the fact that I was sweating something horrid, so no kids to pop in my room I sleep in my b'day suit...

LOL.. almost busted.. forgot my brother and his girl were spending the night to keep a watchful eye on me and help out a bit and whoooops.. Yep, come trotting down the hall nekkid .. :worried:

Not even funny... Thank god by the time I reached the end of the hall I saw them on the sofa and high tailed it back to my room.. OH THE HORROR!

thanks everyone for the sweet words. I am hoping to kick this thing so I can get back to training... going through withdrawls. :(

Out for a bit with the migraine... Tweaking diet now. Had to cut the dairy for a few days, don't want to aggrivate the O'l head here. Training just to start back today.

Gonna post up new diet as soon as I get all my portions, macros, cals.. etc worked out. ;)
 
That's why we call them "progress pix", not the final product. I always wish I would've done pix more consistently during 2000 when I did 2 shows & lost & gained 20 lbs twice in 8 months, how I got there and what I learned. One example I had tracking progress data (bodyfat) and what happened during those times was Tiggy's post about fat-free whipped cream as a cheat snack. I can show you literally what happened to my progress when I thought I found the ultimate cheat food. But I was wrong, and again proved that there is nothing for free.

So, don't even worry about how the pix look, just take them girl!

Besides, we know you a hunka hunka burning chick-hood anyway!

I've seen ups and downs... I'm ok with that, I am learning my body better now than I have EVER. Some foods I see just may not be for me and I'll have to pull them out and find replacements.

I bought calcium pills ... I'm guessing that will work.
