Football Practice = Total Soreness... HOW do I lift afterwards?

Here's my two cents..

Give yourself some time to adjust to your new schedule before you worry about lifting heavy. I work a manual labor job, and it took me about a month, but once I adjusted to it, I haven't had any problems at the gym other than a little muscle fatigue.

I give myself at least 3 hours between ending work and going to the gym, and eat a ton between the two.

Oh, and it goes without saying, eat like a pig. I think I'm pushing 3,000 calories a day on my 140 pound frame, and between work and the gym, it still doesn't seem like enough.

I'm sore a lot, but never particularly tired. Good luck!

3 hours!! is that sport specific. i dont understand how 3 hours of training a day hardcore will help you with a sport that is manly power.
i know there is endurance involved. is all the training short bursts with intervals?

sorry i didnt read all the post i just wanted to know this.
 
Thriller, my HS football teams are about 2 hours to 2 and a half hours so they're not quite as long but still long.
 
ok when you play football right. its you go as hard as you can for a few seconds then you rest. (interval) so is that the sort of practising you do?

how long are football games not three hours. so why would you need that much endurance?
