Floor Presses

So I am gettng the feeling that my bench will stall again on my 5x5 next week, in order to combat this I have decided that I would incorporate floor presses into my schedule for a week and than go back to my 5x5. Would doing these for a week make it possible for me to get that extra rep in? What rep scheme should I use for floor presses? I am assuming I would use more weight on these than with a normal since the ROM is smaller.

Sorry man I dont follow. I want to improve my bench, so I am wondering if by using the floor press it would strengthen different muscles that I use when I bench and in turn improve my flat bench.

Yeah use floor presses but not just for a week, use them for a whole month or at least 3 weeks, then switch back to regular. I just tried them (maybe you saw in my log) and they were awesome!!!! You will probably use less weight than you can bench though, I've heard most people use 80-90% of their bench max. Lay your legs flat on the floor when you do them it should be all upper body. I would suggest your first day:
1x5 warmup
1x3xwarmup
1x2 warmup
1x3xset
1x3x heavier
then go heavier in sets of 3 till you get to a good spot, then maybe try to do a 1 rep max or maybe just a couple sets of 3. I would pause each rep for 2 seconds then really explode up, if you do them for a month with a 2 sec pause and explode up you will be able to power right through your old sticking points in bench. BTW, I'm gonna switch to them for a while myself.

Thanks block that sounds solid, so should I guess the question is should I work up to a 1 rep or a couple sets of 3. I'll probably go for three.

3-5's as long as technique under heavy weight isn't your issue. Some people have to learn how to strain with big weights.

If I were afraid that I wasn't going to hit my numbers in my next workout...I'd start a heavy 2 day cycle of TacoDrol, TacoBol, TacoZolol, and TacoSterone. All purchasable at Taco Bell and washed down with a XL Sprite. I suggest a minimum of 10 burritos, 3 sprites, and 6 cups of oats on these days to go along with 200+ grams of protein.

you would be better improving your floor presses than trying to solve the problem with a new exercise...

sorry man what i meant was you should improve your benchpress technique instead of just doing a new exercise unless your strictly a BBer and want maximum chest work from your benchpresses otherwise with some powerlifting tweaks you could up your bench by 5-20lbs just by changing your form...
