Fitness Log

Watch out for those skirts T-block, number one distraction in the gym haha, I hope she was hot. Yeah man muscle memory is an amazing thing, once you get to a certain level of strength you'll always be able to go back to that level much easier after you take time off. Dont sweat it and too bad about that backpacking trip I was looking forward to hearing how that went.

Well man we decided to fuck it and go on the trip anyway we may scale it down though.

Here is Yosemite two weeks ago at a similar elevation, just under 10,000 feet. If we do the whole trip, we will reach 10500 feet, which will be like dragging ourslevs over 6 feet of snow! We might pick up crampons at REI though

Aparrantly this is one of the biggest snow years ever:( Lol we were picturing swimming in cool alpine lakes, but we'll freeze our ass off if we go swimming! I'm gonna take a SHIT ton of pictures and videos though so I'll share those with you guys. I just hope to God you deadlift doesnt catch up to me by the time I get back:( I could have pulled 465-470 before I lost a little strength though:D

Pull throughs are the shit. Started them a few weeks back myself.
Looks like your making some good progress tblock. im sure that strength will come back. I had a few months off and mines comming back lol

Well I just got back from my backpacking trip, it was fucking awesome. After the initial trailhead, it was just us and the wilderness for the whole trip. We did 4 nights and 5 days, so we cut it one day short. We spent 75% of the time off trail, awesome!!!! 6 feet of snow plus too. Not sure when I will do my next workout, my little online bench meet is soon though

sounds like a sweet trip man. Hopefully you didn't lose too much strength. 6 feet of snow holy shit

Mike: I just wen t with one friend. I cant imagine going backpacking in the shit we did with more than 2 people, it would just be too hard to avoid falling through holes and shit hahaha! Plus my friends dad got a $350 2 person tent that only weighs 3 pounds, so I aint arguing with that :) We took around 500 photos though, plus probably 50+ videos, so I'm putting some of the videos up on youtube. I made an account at some yosemite forum to ask questions about the trip and they were very helpful so I wanted to put up some vids for them. The funniest thing is that when we went back tp the ranger station and showed them photos of the frozen lakes they just about shit their pants, and tyhey were asking us about all the conditions becaause they didnt dare go up there :lmao:

Also, my bodyweight went down to 190, a 5 pound loss:( On the good side though we were both in such good backpacking shape by the end that we set a 4+ mph pace on the last part of the trip out of the snow and werent out of breath at all, we practically knocked over some dayhikers. Once you get out of the snow it is so easy!

dude wtf @ the pm you sent me!!!

Lmao hahaha. I always knew there was something different about that T-block, it all makes sense now.

I'm seriously :lmao: man haha! EM is getting a little too handy with the old photoshop I think..............

on 1/10/10 I could only do 225x3, so basically I lost 5 months of strength on bench in one week????? Plus that pre-backpacking number was already a strength loss..........

The break should do you good anyway, you were haulin ass and bound to freeze up. Now you'll just take a week or two to get your numbers up and probably make fresh gains.

T-Block I just searched your log all the way down to page 63 and could not find your CGBP video, anyway you could tell me what page to check out?

BTW, you said you lost five lbs. from backpacking, 5 lbs. in a few days is alot man. Your body is probably still gassed from that trip.

Here's my youtube channel man:

And here's a good video:

YouTube - 245x1 Paused Close Grip bench press

I like that grip. I just weighed myself today and I am 188.6 without clothes, that is super light for me:( And today is my online bench competition. ANY IDEA WHAT NUMBERS I SHOULD SHOOT FOR? Originally I was going for :
235x1
255x1
275x1

But there's no way I can do that now, so I am thinking:
225x1
235x1
245x1

I dont even know about 245x1 though, thoughts? I failed it a few days ago

i would do something like 200 as your opener, then hit 235 for your second attempt and see how it feels and go from there

So it looks like your putting your thumbs where the rough part of the bar turns into the smooth. Whereas I put my pinkys at that part so my grip is about 5 inches closer, I'll change it up so my middle finger is at the part where the smooth meets rough. I just want to make sure I'm hitting my tris enough.

Thanks man! I missed this though, but it still went well for my strength loss. I'm gaining back quick.

Comments: Deadlifts not good, I've lost 25-30 pounds on bench and probably 50 pounds on my deadlift. After todays bench comp though I am happpy because I think I will gain it back quick:D Weirdest thing: MY grip was actually STRONGER than before. I was like 1 mm from closing the 250 in my right hand. Also I've never gotten 42 solid reps on the 150. That made me feel better lol:D

Virtual meet bench comp

Newspaper was for their rules to make sure you were lifting on the day you said

outa curiosity why don't you push your heels into the ground during your bench? helps to generate a lot of force

So ark's post about his planks reminded me: I need to remember to do core work every workout. So my new schedule is:

Monday: Squats and assistance+ core
Tuesday: Miltary press and assistance +core
Wednesday: Rest
Thursday: Bench press and and assistance +core
Friday: Deadlift and assistance +core

Monday core: bodysaws (mayve weighted)
Tuesday core: L-sit pullups
Thursday core: Turkish getups
Friday core: weighted and bw planks

How does this look for core? Soon I'm gonna add 5 days of cardio and bodyweight exercises too

Turkish sit-ups are very time-consuming. I'd do jackknife abs on a swiss ball or use the ab roller.

Throw in reneage rows somewhere. They're good as well :)

Sorry guys I have like 4 log entries to update but here's the carido I just did:

Sunday 7/4/10
Hill run in hot sun not sure of distance
At the top of the hill in sand:

Circuit:

Repeated 3 times:
20 pushups
30 seconds flutter kicks
30 bicycle crunches

90 secs rest after 2 completiions

repeated 3 times
10 pushups
15 secs flutter kicks
15 bicycle crunches

Comments: I needed a lot of rest for these, 90 secs after 2 reps of the 1st circuit and like 90 secs in between some of the last ones. Not good. It was hot out though, but I'm really going to stress cardio ad bodyweight endurance from now on

You guys are retarded. It's funny though. I don't think Josh will take this lying down.

I don't know why you'd want to fuck with Josh though....if he's gay, then he can handle a LOT more pain than you.

I've always laughed at guys making fun of gays....guys: gays LIKE it in the ass. Can you handle that pain? Shit son, no way can I! :p

Sad thing is there is a higher percentage of jacked gay guys than jacked straight guys.

Your right Jdid wont take this lying down, he'll take it bending over.

Sorry man but Andy set me up I had to do it. I have too much free time now that I cant choke the monkey with my good hand.

aaaawwwshhheeeettt!!!

Always switch hands every few weeks. You'll find the experience refreshing...ahahahahhaaa

I like to pretend that my left hand is a clumsy, but hot, virgin who has never really been with a man and therefore lacks the experience to give a good handy...

I am so fckin tapped.

I cant even follow your guys's logs anymore without reading page of gay shit

lol shouldnt have started that with the comment about jdid. I actually never make gay jokes or anything lol I thought that was for freshman but jdid is seriously always starting up the gay jokes......no offense to him though they are kind of funny sometimes.

Andalite: did you see the squat progression question? If you could find it among all the bullshit haha! Check my workout, I really enjoyed it but not sure how to progress?

So you can see I increased reps at 295 and added reps at 285. How should I progress from here? I'm gonna leave on the backpacking trip so what should my last workout be before?

How was that a Doubles day? You do know that Doubles means 2 reps, right??? hahaha

So you added reps to 295. 1 rep. Thats good.

Next week, try to get in some work with 285. Like 3 sets of 2 reps with 285. Thats it. It's a good place to be at. From there you should try to add reps to each set and then a few workouts from there when you can hit 3 sets x 4 reps x 285 lbs, add weight. Add a little weight at first...like 295 lbs. But, the following session jump to 315 and reduce the reps. But keep sets to 3.

thanks! I really enjoy low rep squats, with the doubles I meant to do doubles but did 275x2, then got to 295 and realized it was too heavy to continue doubles so I moved to singles.

So I should do

3x2x285

then build up to 3x4x285

then 3x2x295? or maybe 3x3x295 depending on how I feel. Then like 3x2x315??? That would be pretty heavy for me.....though maybe not after a few weeks of hard work

Here's whats going to happen:

(sets x reps x weight)

Week 1: 3x2x285
Week 2: 3x3x285
Week 3: 3x4x285
Week 4: 3x4x295
Week 5: 3x5x295
Week 6: 3x2x315
Then you build on that 315.

ahha! Thanks a lot! I love low reps on squats and this looks like a lot of fun:D

lmao read page 85 and tell me if i made 1 gay joke.................. also, if anyone wants to see the girl i brought to prom hit me a PM and i'll be more than happy to send you a pic of how gay i am for it :)

You know what's really funny is (and i am asking for it by saying this shit... i really am) that my mom asked me if i was gay since me/some friends have had inside gay jokes since middle school and she read them in my yearbook. Then on vacation, she saw me dancing and said i was too good to be straight and she legit thinks i am gay rofl.

Anyways, keep up the good work with the workouts tblock. I hope you get your strength back soon

glad im not the only one who thinks so

Gays are always friends with hot girls... haha jk

Let me see her Jdid, impress me.

Dude that is so true haha! I don't think jdid is gay though.....maybe bi but not gay. Lol jk glad you had fun on your trip jdid. My strength is coming back quick, I pulled 2x3x410 yesterday which is actually a pr. What sucks though is I am leaving for another backpacking trip next wednesday. I love the outdoors but losing strength sucks :(

Question: I deadlifted yesterday 7/9/10 friday...and got 2x3x410, first set really hard, failed 4th, 2nd set much easier for whatever reason, I think I could have gotten 4 or 5, and my form was much better 2nd set. So I'm deadlifting one more time before my trip, probably tuesday, or 3 rest days in between, but after squats. Any ideas on what I should go for? I'm thinking 410x5, and maybe 410x3 after that. I just want to stay strong over the trip and come back pulling 475 soon

Comments: Fantastic workout! I read an article on stretch reflex vs actual muscle contraction on tmuscle. So I decided to see how much stretch reflex accounted for my strength. Answer: Not really at all. They say if you can do the same weight for paused pin press without momentum as you can for regular bench you are well balanced. SWEET!

Comments: Another fantastic workout! The first set was motherfucker, even the 1st rep felt hard at 410 lol! The next 2 were teeth grinding back rounding bitches. Weirdest thing though is I got the biggest hit of endorphins ever from those reps, way more than running. I literally felt like I was blazed lol! Then I decided to do a 2nd set, thinking even 2 reps would be hard. I got all 3 reps easy, I could have done 4-5....every vein was a poppin though. I love planks too!!!!!

Funny story though 2 little kids came in (like 12 or younger) and they came straight up to my bar with 410 on it and they were admiring it, their eyes were bulging and they were like man how mcuh is that lol! They tried to lift it a little..............no dice!

Great stuff bro, muscle memory is an amazing phenomenon. After strength loss you gain back to your previous strength in mere weeks and often surpass where you were at.

Good workouts man.

It's an awesome feel when kids or even teenagers that don't have shit attitudes notice some real iron lifted.

Today at the gym I saw this skinny kid do like 5 sets of triceps extension and like 10 sets of curls. Wanted to palm my forward. Had the biggest urge to give the kid some advice, but I have done that in the past and most people just get pissed off.

Excellent progress.

great job tblock!!! i guess that trip didn't hinder your #s for too long :) also, does anyone know how to send a file through a PM?

thanks miked, studmuffin (love that name :) and jdid. No jdid I dont know how to send a file through pm.....you sending that picture to miked? :D you might have to get his email or some shit

Saturday 7/10/10

Run: 2 miles 14:19
----split into----

1 lap easy (2:00 or so pace)
1 lap fast (1:30 and faster pace)

repeated that set 4 times alternated easy. fast., easy. fast till I got 2 miles

Scale: 7.5 last fast one was killer....not too far off puking.....I was going almost as fast as I could and I only got a 1:32 lol!!!!!
I really need to work on my speed cause I can't imagine running a 5:14 mile like I used to, just running a 1:20 lap (5:20 mile pace) was hard.

Pushups and Situps

X4 20 pushups, 20 situps, 30 seconds rest btw sets, done 20 pu's, then 20 situps, then 20 pushups, etc

Total:
80 situps, 80 pushups

lmao man! I think mike asked for the pic of jdid prom date so jdid was trying to figure out how to send it....nothin gay there haha.

i hope this comment is more out of frustration than out of stupidity.

I don't even know what you are talking about??? When's the last time regular army soldiers rain 15 miles to get to a village with an insurgent leader in it???

Lol still cardio fitness is extremely important for life in general....if I was just working out for health I would do lots of running and swimming but not hard stuff....easier for sure. I'd also do pullups and pushups and lifting.....but not the type of lifting we all do. And a moderate diet, lots of sleep and water

I agree tblock, if I was lifting for health I would rarely go below 9 reps. I would eat 3 or 4 whole meals a day, keep my fats and carbs pretty low and just make sure each meal had a quality protein source and some slow digesting carbs. I wouldnt take any interest in the weight I lifted for each exercise and I would for sure to alot more cardio and first on the list would be drop my bodyweight way down. I wouldnt really do much squat, deadlift or bench either...

^^^^ man that would really suck lol

Yeah no squatting deading and benching would suck:( Lots of swimming mixed with lifting and running and cycling would be my shit, and lots of bodyweight exercises too.

Here's 2 videos I just made:

Good vs bad push ups

100 pullups workout

Nothing special I just had seen a lot of bad pushup videos so I decided to make that one, and at the same time share a really good workout routine. Extramile I dare you to try that 100 pull ups workout hahhahahahaha:p:p:evil:

lol bro I cant even crank out 10 pullups let alone 100

"or whatever your fitness level is" I think 20 would be about right for me if they were wide grip lol

I would rather just just make a video of me fucking jdid's mum would that be ok with you rather than one of me sucking at pullups?

When I first did this workout I got to 50 and I about puked! I did 11 first set, and it was all down hill from there haha! I think I could get to 100 now though.....I'll have to try. Not with the running though.......A true badass could do it to 200 and get 60+ pushups and situps each max......with the running tooo......................

But yeah that would be fine about jdid's mom man......gotta have some good conditioning for that....you'd be so out of breath cause the whole time she'd be asking you if he was gay hahaha!

Also man even though these were just demonstration videos I still was pleased how easy those 10 pullups were....my goal for a while has been to be able to crank out 10 pullups without flinching!

@ EM- Sorry, I am just going to make the assumption that my mom doesn't like underaged fire crotches.

@ Tblock- Nice videos. I knew those chairs looked familiar when i saw them in that formation around the table.

Also, there is no way in hell many people besides the ones who work almost exclusively or just really hard on BW exercises can get 200 and 60+ pushups and situps. Even people like that probably can't hit those #s.

he doesnt mean 200 pullups in a row he means over the whole workout

well hey she didnt mind it last time so either you dont know your own mum very well (you adopted bro?) or she is just too much into me to pay attention to her likes and dislikes aslong as she is gettin some LOL

ahahahahaha ;) only joking about your mum lol

LMFAO you guys bitch at eachother do much.

btw solid pulls ups. Your 195 lbs. right?

yep yep. I think I may be able to get 15+ in a row now.....I havent tested myself since I one of my first youtube videos, I did 14 in that workout but they werent quite deadhang. I want to be doing 20.

Jdid I am not sure since em brought it up if you understood that it was 200 over the space of a workout....but I was reading an article about someone preparing for Force recon and they were doing it to 200 pullups for sure.....

200 pullups in a workout is insane.

This type of training is really good at building muscle endurance and training your body to flush out lactic acid fast. Also great for your cardio.

Before I went into the Navy I did the NAvy Seal preparatory workout and that was ALOT of fucking pushups, situps, pullups and running and swimming.

Doing that for 3 months my resting heart rate was 43 bpm lol.

Won't do shit for strength though. I'm pretty sure active Seals(not trainee's in BUD/S do abit less crazy amounts of cardio and get some more strength building in because they are usually abit more solid that the recruits I have seen.

Yeah man when I was younger I wanted to be a Navy SEAL but now I am looking at army rangers.....SEALs suck on land :lmao: But it is the same damn thing lots of running and push ups and pullups and situps with little to no rest.

Sunday 7/11/10

3 mile run: 22:29 (7:30 minute mile pace)

difficulty scale: 6 sweating but not too hard

Monday 7/12/10

Pullups: 16 PR

Bodyweight: 192.8 taken immediatly after pullups

Workout

Squats
1x5x135
1x5x185
1x3x225
1x1x275 (felt heavy on the back!)
3x2x285 (belt last 2 sets hard!)

Bench
1x5x135
1x3x185
1x2x205
1x4x225 (failed 5th WTF)

Toe raises
3x10x160

Comments: Awful workout. I went on a long hike and went to the workout hungry, unmotivated, and tired after work. I almost fell asleep and then decided to workout. Each rep of 285 was terrible and hard Then I decided to bench one more time before the trip, expecting 3x5x225, and I couldnt even get more than 4 at 225! WTF! Do you guys think it was just a one off? I'm kind of worried about all the running....I ran 4 days last week could that affect the strength that quickly???

I think I could have gotten more because I noticed those first 10 were much harder than the 10 in the other video and I was dehydrated and hungry, I'd just got back from a 4 hour hike. 20 here I come! BTW do you guys think those were good pullups? I tried to use as little momentum as possible

Lol, I'd be careful saying seals suck on land. They get deployed in all kinds of environments.

Typical BUD/S training if I remember right has them running 6 miles a day IN sand with boondockers on in addition to a retarded amount of other things.

Army rangers are awesome. Marine Force Recon are awesome. Seal training is the hardest. Many army rangers and recons have tried and failed seal training.

I have studied up on the training of all the elite branches of the military and I knew a recon before I went to boot camp.

Air Force Pararescue are some badass mofo's.

I just watched your pullup vid and I'll give you some critical advice. I don't want to come off sounding like a dick and my standards were based off a Navy Seal watching me do my pullups.

You should aim to touch your sternum at the top and a full hang at the bottom. Granted, you are in a doorway, but these details are important. I will admit I do not know what the Army's requirements are for pullup form, but the Seals demanded full chin over the bar, not just to it with a slight pause and a full hang without relaxing the shoulder blade.

That said you have good pullup potential for your height and weight.

I noticed a WTF on your workout log in regards to your bench. Don't worry about it. You won't be benching in basic boot camp nor in Army Rangers training. You'd be better off dropping weight lifting in general imho and building up to workouts doing circuits of pushups, pullups, dips, situps and leg raises until you can do like 20x25-30 pushups, 20x10 pullups, 15x10 dips, 20x30 situps and 20x30 leg raise with ZERO rest between exercises or circuits.

That is a cardio workout in itself. Build up your running base to 5 miles a day to the point where you can do it in your sleep. Take rucksack marches 1-2 times a week for 10-15 miles.

Your potential is good. I just think you would be better off being more specific about it.

I'm gonna have to disagree....I knew a guy that did BUD/s, RIP (Ranger indoctrination program), ranger school, and special forces selection. He said that his favorite unit was Special forces by far, and that many SEALs couldnt handle ranger school because they were not used to the type of patrolling involved, and got some horrible blisters and had to recycle the class. BUD/s is hardcore (I'm gonna admit something I hate to admit right here) but Force Recon was BY FAR the hardest unit to survive in.

Here's an article posted in my log from a couple days ago:

Force Recon PT

Also read the required preparation:

Training to Be a RECON Marine

You should be doing 20 mile hikes with 4-5 mph pace with 50+pounds. That's crazy speed. They always ran 20 miles a day, plus thousands of bodyweight exercises, topped off with a swim for shits and giggles. I think marines are arrogant motherfuckers but damn that is some badass shit.
And honeslty SEALs do not have a very good reputation in the army. SEALs are best in water though, only because Force Recon no longer exists, and everyone knows marines get crappy gear. I've read lots of books and SEALs consistenly shoot everything to shit. One story where they were guarding a dignitary a guy tried to stab the dignitary, and a teenager tackled the attacker, and they lit all 3 of them up like a Christmas tree.

Still this is so useless for people to be arguing which is best, ya gotta do em all to find out ahhhaa:evil::biggrin:

I've known Navy Seals and been around them.

I know what the requirements are for Force Recon. They are badass mofo's.

I have no clue what the deal with Seal's having issue's with pack patrols or blisters is. Sounds like a serious load of bull to me. Seals deal with major blisters as par for course. They spend their time training predominantly in a mixture of water and sand.

It also takes an incredible will to deal with the exposure to some of the cold water drills they do.

It's kind of apples and oranges, but I have known a recon and he didn't take Seals lightly.

Im gonna do marine recon, ill let you guys know. They areALL hard and more importantly they are fighting for our country and our freedom, i dont care which one is a little harder, they are all hard

good point man! The thing I hate though is how because of the navy's use of Navy SEALs for recruitment purposes and the huge pr campaign they have everyone thinks Navy SEALs are the end all of the universe, like a huge team of chuck norris's or some shit. They train primarily for water so of course they are not going to be nearly as good at patrolling and overland warfare as the army. The navy gets plenty of fresh meat aboard their ships as young rambo's try out unprepared and quit. Army's finally learning though and they are starting to do the same thing.

Gladiator: Are you thinking about going into the marines again man?

I guess the point is every unit in the military is elite at the thing they do. I'd consider the bomb disposal guys very elite at what they do, fuck the janitors are great at what they do :D

I'm doin marsoc brah. Ill start specific training after football if I don't go anywhere like D2, until then its all about strength

wow you better get ready to drop strength and size though. The training you'll be doing for marsoc is literally the COMPLETE opposite of what you are doing now. I wish I had some one near me though that was interested in training for some special ops, I like lifting too much I've been running and doing pushups and situps for 4 days week now but it would be great to train with someone. You should find someone where you live who wants to train it'll keep ya motivated.

BTW, did you read those 2 articles about force recon I posted a little back? Force recon is basically the same as marsoc:
Training to Be a RECON Marine

That one above is what you should do to prep.....running 4-5 times a week, swimming 4-5 times a week, rucksacking a minimum of once a week plus rucksack runs (hardcore shit)

Hey man I just saw the second part of this post, didnt see before. Yes I realize these are not deadhang, I'll post up my most recent workout of pullups I did all deadhang, they were harder and I got a great burn in my muscles. I COMPLETELY agree with you about dropping lifting.....but lifting is seriously like cigarettes for me....it's addicting getting stronger and I hate the idea of other guy my age getting super strong while I'm getting weak but fit
