but the muscle memory gains will stop
amd squatting 3x a week you will go backwards

personally im a big westside advocate

look up all of westsides articles on their website

you will see 5x5 or any "magic" numbers will not work at maximum efficiency

and the conjugate system will allow you to max every week without burning out.

Yeah, I did westside back when I was competing, and had great results. I'll probably go back to it at some point in the future, but until I stop being able to add weight every week, I'm going to stick with 5x5..I'm hoping it takes me close to where I used to be.

ok..
I would say as soon as gains slow down switch, even if some gains are still being made.

No reason to accept slower gains for any period of time of you can help it
