I dont think anyone actually "likes" squats, we just like the fact that no exercise does more for your legs in such a straighforward movement.

They are painful and they do wreck you when done properly.

Fact is if you have done legs properly, you shouldnt be able to do any other bodypart. There is A LOT of muscle in your legs and to train all the muscle ... it taxes the fuck out of your CNS... to train anything else after legs is just overtraining

I like 5*5 for 4 weeks, followed by 3 weeks of triples and one week of singles.
i think I'm gonna change my philosphy and become a juichead in the next few yrs, that's were the glory is
bet you will be squating 600 in a few months.lol

Squatty shwatty. Ran a full marathon this morning, somewhere along the way you discover a definition of pain that you won't find at the squat rack.

what is funny though,

a guy walked into my gym and used the squat rack as his coat hanger because it was raining outside......

then he proceeded to the preacher curl and slapped on a plate and did 1/4 reps.....

then he moved onto the pec dec and stacked it with 1/4 reps.

put on his coat from the squat rack and left

I actually love the legpress machine and working out legs that way, squats just put too much stress on my knees and back. For some reason the leg press doesnt hurt my knees as bad and my legs actually feel like they had a better workout.

maybe my stamina sucks, but after sq'ing i'm almost too crushed to do anymore gym activity...i know some peeps sq as their last exercise but i wanna be strongest at my sq so i do it first thing. goddamn 3 days later and I'm still wrecked, could barely get out of bed this morning...and I've been sq'ing heavy (for a lightweight non-juicer) for a few yrs now. seems like my body just gets distressed, regardless of condition.
am i gonna die?

It sounds more like the squats are wreaking havoc on your CNS system more than your muscles.

Why do you squat? What is the goal? For strength or size? Training for size I either do squats mid to last in my workout. If I do them as the first exercise I always do 15+ reps with them. I used to do low reps but it was just a waste of time for me. Once you wear out your tendons and ligaments straining with heavy weight, you're fucked.

i train pl style, so 1 rep is all i care about...other than soreness, my body feels great, no pain anywhere...my form is good so that has a lot to do with it
