Do You Have an Eating Disorder? If You Are a Dedicated Bodybuilder, Some Shrinks Thin

I have not missed a workout in about five years.

However, I have no problem obsessing over this.

The test is: would you REFUSE to attend, say, a wedding/funeral/important event because high-protein food would not be available and you hadno protein meal replacement bars handy? if you would go, but grumble and train harder the next day, imho, no disorder. If you wouldn't hate yourself for it, no disorder. If you wouldn't think of suicide because you feel so worthless for eating a piece of non-healthy food, no disorder....

LIke most said, obsessive can be good or bad. Obsessive (about anything) is bad when it negatively affects your job, relationships, family, friends on a regular basis. Not just missing an event here and there. But a consistant, habitual behavior. Obsessive is good if it keeps you motivated, on track and headed toward your goals. To me, nothing is worth losing my family over.

Working out has always taken priority - friends and significant others have always known that. But I do make exceptions seomtimes - important events, special occasions etc. But I PLAN for those things and do damage control. Last minute events don't usually happen with me - I'm a planning kind of girl, don't like surprises, I like structure. :) Luckily, my BF is just as involved in working out as I am.

After thinking about this, in the big scheme of things going to a wedding or other function, eating like shit for a day or two or three, drinking too much for a night or two, missing a workout or two or evening an f***ing week while on vacation, etc. etc., hasn't made any difference in anything other than I don't stress about it anymore and the long-term decrease in stress has been far more beneficial from a workout perspective than not doing the things that everyone stresses about.
