Hey guys I'm in a bit of disappointment, but at the same time pissed  . Today we(PL team) maxed out at school. These were the following lifters old benches Rich205, Ryan205, G135, Lee185, Jeramy185, Me225. This was a touch and go bench before today I was the strongest bencher well when we maxed these were the new maxes all on the workout that I first posted and my coach had up and the way we did it was we left the room came in benched if we got it easy left again and so forth til one that we got with a bit of a struggle; Rich275, Ryan295, G185, Lee250, Jeramy245, Me245 ::bawling: . WHY THE HELL DID ALL OF THEM GO UP 50LBS+ AND I ONLY WENT UP 20LBS. The thing is me and G my bro have the same diet we go by and he went up 50lbs when I only went up 20lbs. This is all in a 4 week period. On top of all this Rich,Ryan, and Jeramy all 3 compete in my weight class and there is only 3 people competing(the strongest). On squat I didn't go up at all and on cleans went up 20lbs. If I go westside starting monday will my bench go up more than 20lbs by the end of the 6 weeks.

It is slightly more complicated than to just say if you do X then you will get Y result. You may go up more than 20 lbs in 6 weeks and you may not.

Be happy you went up 20 lbs! That puts your bench at what, 245? Think about if you only put on 5 lbs in your bench in the next month. I bet you would be pissed, judging by your post above. But guess what, if you consistently put on 5 lbs per month for the next year, then you are going to be a 300+ bencher this time next year.

At that rate by the time you are 20 years old you would be a 400 lb bencher. All from a measly 5 lb gain per month. A gain that would piss you off right now. Let me tell you there are not a Hell of a lot of 20 year olds benching 400, and damn sure not many at your size.

Eat more, sleep more, and do the Westside method correctly. Find Dave Tate's 9 week basic training regimen. You will be hard pressed to improve on that starting out. Be patient, and for God's sake put away a few burgers.

I know if I progress 20lbs a month that's GREAT by no means don't get me wrong when I posted was right after I lifted so I was stil pissed, what makes me even more upset is that the youngest G is 14 Ryan is 16 Rich 15 Lee 15 and Jeramy 15. They are all younger than me on top of everything. Could this be b/c they have more test levels higher than me??? Well either way as long as I'm in the 300's come March I'm happy. And I will be there b/c I plan on putting on 10lbs of body weight, should it be more carbs or fat or protein or all 3. Isn't there a way to lose those 10lbs say a week before my meet so I can make weight class and not lose strength. Thanx guys. I love these boards and how all of you help.

For someone your age there is no way to lose 10lbs of weight before a contest. You are way too young to be screwing with your body like that. You and your friends are all teens adn yoru test levels are all dong strange things -- don't worry about yours or theri test levels. Did you ever think about this -- mayeb they worked harder than you?? there is no magic pill, diet, workout etc -- it's about who works hardest AND smartest.

thanx for the reply. I thought there was a way to lose roughly 10lbs a week before for the first 5 days lower carbs and up the water intake next 2 days keep carbs low and water only if neccessary, like 4 cups or so a day. Normally after the weigh in, which is about 20 min before everything stars, after the weigh in we can eat or drink whatever so at that moment I would drink and eat like a PowerBar(for carbs) or something.

Dude,
I told you: gain weight. Little people lift little weights. You are only holding yourself back by trying to stay down. At your height, you should be much heavier than you are.

LISTEN TO THE MAN!

Also one thing you have to remember is rarely do people add a cosistant amount of weight to their lifts over a consistant amount of time. For those of you that have made progress. You probably didnt make a consistant X amount of pound increase for the entire time you have been lifting.

What will happen, like with the bench for example, is you will grind along. You keep working harder and learning. You may not gain any strength....and then BAM!!! 25lbs added...you found a weak point and brought it up. Guess what...now you have another weak point. You spend several weeks finding it and then BAM!! 15lb increase. Guess what...you still have a weak point....you get the point. Strength increases are not a slow and steady thing.....they are more of a JUMP then (hopefully) maintain...then JUMP(hopefully) then maintain.

If you want your bench to go up....do what has been said by men more notable than I..."gain weight and train your triceps"

BTW....from listening to you talk about your "coach" I wonder what he benches??

Bob hey man, the thing is bro for the meets I wanna in a 169 weight class if not then i'm not gonna compete and say I do i'm totaled I might as well not even compete I wanted to try and make it to states this year I know i'll make it to regionals if in the 169 weight class. If I bump up to 183 then I know i'll struggle to even get regionals. Thanx for the reply I was just wonderin if the mann's way of putting on weight then dropping would work that he posted on my BF thread.

Han I know about the increase in weight thing and all those guys upset for G were benching over 300lbs+ before football so maybe they're all coming back quick. My bro though G I swear it was all in his head and stil is honestly he benched 185 with a 35 25 10 on each side as soon as he woulda seen the 45lb plate i know he woulda freaked(all in his head) my coach benches 450 although he's got an injured arm from a car accident and tore his bicep on the left arm it looks pretty nasty, he's 6 0 maybe 260lbs somewhere round there

...is there any sight besides elitefts.com that shows a pic of proper bench form or a video online somewhere. Thanx

....anyone else for replys

yes the way i was telling you wil work, also works great the more expierence you have .but at the sametime, bob has seen you ans wants you to gain some pounds, personaly i would do it then!
you can even grow into a bigger class man.but plain and simple you gotta gain a little weight to put some up.we can worry about dropping weight later.focus on increasing calories, train hard and you will be fine man.you are young as hell and making this more complicated than it is..........you will be fine bro:D
