Some people (myself included) have a general distrust of any artificial sweeteners, partly because the new ones are not tested completely and many of the older ones have proven to be very bad for you. That said, there are certainly benifits from dairy and chocolate as long as you don't overdo it. What Sim882 is suggesting is certainly better than a special K bar.

A much as you can, eat unprocessed foods and do your own cooking. Get to know your ingredients. Flavor your foods with herbs and spices. Minimize sugar and salt. Cook in bulk so you can heat up meals later on. Make gradual improvements in your diet. It can be overwhelming to try to change everything at once.
