Deadlifting my way to Happiness - Al420's log

Todays workout:

Deadlift: 135x10, 185x5, 225x5, 275x5, 315x5, 365x5, 405x3 - I going to do a single or two next week. See if I can pull 450'ish.

High Row: 110x12x3 - done on the lat pull w/ the rope -

HS Single Arm Row: 4 plates x12, 6 plates x10, 8 plates x9

Bicep stuff - 3 exercises, 3x10 per.

I will be back on paper (spreadsheet) starting Jan 1st. Having what to lift helps me so I am going back to it.

I am going to keep pushing Deads and Power Cleans till Jan and lay off back squats - I will be doing some higer rep squats to try to heal up my left groin a tad.

Shoulder is responding to the rehab pretty damn good. It feels better in the gym then out but that is a start. I think I can bench next week and do over head stuff the following. Nothing crazy till Jan - higher rep work here as well.

I've never been to a meet where High Rows, HS Single Arm Row and Bicep Stuff were used - must be a Thai thing.

I think I remember reading somewhere that David Hasselhoff could do a ton of curls and tricep kickbacks. Is that where you got your training methods from?

you supposed to deadlift 405x3 and on the other hand you can't catch the bar at Powercleans 175x1 ?? seems of course curious not to say your deadlift performance is a lie only....

btw don't forget to bomb ...

Describe your pain now after the stuff I gave you?! You said more so outside the gym you feel it. Is it as bad, or is it getting better?!? What movements are bothering you still?


O.k. I'm putting together the Dr. Feildenkrest (I know I did not spell that right) movement therapy for the back.
 
It's a good idea to cycle what lifts you're 'pushing'.

Personally, I'd keep one day of heavy squatting, maybe 5x5 with a straight weight just one day a week, and then 2 clean workouts and 1 DL one. I think you're good for a 455 dead. Make sure to clean both heavy and in the 85% range to really hammer home the speed/technique/explosion.

By the way....Hasselhoff was badass in Knight Rider, but after that it was all downhill.

didn't matter much since he was calling the shots in baywatch.
 
Great log you have here.

Al, if heavy squats are really aggravating your groin some high-rep work might be in order, but if not I think staying heavy would be a better way to go. T's suggestion of pushing your 5x5 numbers rather than your 1x5 numbers is a good one (especially if you're only squatting once per week and want to get some volume on the lift), or you could push triples if you want to reduce volume.

Before I reply please don't forget that's I'm a "fatass" that is around 210 lbs. right now. That about 60 more lbs. than you and still moving more weight with these BW lift. hahahaha

Dips = BW+125 lbs. X 5.....maybe more
Chins = BW+100+++ X 5....I would think more if I needed to

Now that your making a fool out of yourself by posting these lifts, is there any others you want to post? Squats would be a funny one for EVERYONE to laugh at. :p I stil really want to have the sexes with you!

It just bothers me - is that a description? It hurts the worst when I reach across my body. It hurts when I sleep. The stretches you sent to me via Bunny are helping and I am doing RC stuff and speed chest work on a seated machine w/ minimal weight in hopes that the increase in speed will reduce the pressure on the tendon...right?
