they might not know who that is

So the fuck what?

How is that this guy's problem?

They might as well just have a wheel of random men, spin it and have whomever it lands on pay.

When he asks why.... they can just say.. 'We don't know who the real Dad is'.

Same logic can be applied to unsolved murders. Send whoever to jail, and say.. .well... we don't know who the real killer is.

He had a year from the time of divorce to bring the issue. In a way, he rested on his laurels and missed out. That's life sometimes.

don't get me wrong.. i think if the real father's identity can be proven, he should have to pay instead. but this can't always be done.

you're too caught up in the infidelity issue of the situation. the bottom line is, ruling in favor of cuckholded fathers will leave a lot of kids impoverished. i don't understand how people can entertain the idea of possibly sabotaging the future of a child who did nothing wrong. They aren't randomly choosing somebody to foot the bill; the man chose to trust and marry the child's mother, and to raise the child with her. he got screwed over, but that's the risk he took

Trusting and marrying someone doesn't make you liable for the financial burden of a child that isn't yours. He chose the raise the child with under the premise that it was his child, he was deceived. That wasn't a risk 'he took' - it wasn't forseable that a court would make him pay for children not born of him.

It's not sabatoging the childs future by not forcing some non-liable innocent to finance it's life. There isn't ANY evidence that more money will make that child's life better / happier.

It's no more his responsibility that it is yours.
