CURVES - yay, or nay?

Its just a form of circuit training, which, when done corrextly, is a great way to drop some adipose.

I totally agree with the fact that circuit training CAN be a very good way to drop fat.... BUT, Shadow, do you think Curves does circuit training correctly - in a way that will drop a lot of fat?

I think in a lot of cases, Curves is targeting the ladies in the crowd who would never otherwise go into a gym. Its a marketing ploy definitely, but I think the reality is that its better to do something (e.g. Curves 30 min circuit training) than nothing at all. If they are uncomfortable around weight rooms & guys, this is definitely one way to approach it.

For me however, I friggen hate that stuff. I don't like to be around women who whine & bitch about their weight. I enjoy the social atmosphere of a gym and I really enjoy lifting to see what I can accomplish & it just feels so damn good!

I think Curves is more of a "social" thing. There's one on my way to the gym with a Tim Hortons across the road, and I always see the ladies walking from Curves to the Timmy's LOL........My Mother In Law goes to one and I'm 100% sure she just goes to chat, cause she hasn't lost any weight.....but now she sees my progress and is wondering if she should change where she goes...

I think it depends upon the individual branch.....there is a woman in my lab who has been going and she has lost 40 pounds......she was told, however, to keep reps 8-12 for most exercises, which is the key...too many reps will kill you.
