chest day, dips?

This is my new workout routine;
Mon-chest
tues-back
wed-off
thurs-shouldes
fri-bis & tris
sat-legs
sun-off

hey Gymtime- yea I have been pretty busy with school, but now im starting up my cycle so im getting pretty pumped, so therefore i will be back on elite 24/7 for the next 12 weeks....lol
my arm is 98% back to its original strength! broke it on May 6th so it took 6 months to heal and I've been out of my cast/brace since Aug. 15th,so it took 2 months to get my strength back.
take it easy brother!:moon: :moon: :moon: :moon: :moon: :moon:

I do chest and biceps on the same day because chest uses a lot of triceps. So if you do tricep exercises before you do chest you can't work your chest as strong because you triceps are already somewhat fatigued. Same goes for if you do chest before tris. I also like to do chest/bis so that I kind of stretch my tris when I do bis after chest.

OK.. imo...i don't agree with chest and bis and i will tell ya why.. when you do chest, you begin to break down your triceps .. so you should continue with triceps to fully destroy them.. total exhaustion=recovery time=growth.. hence if you train chest and then on another day tris.. then you really need to give your tris a good 48 hour recovery from chest in order to fully break them down in their next workout..
so the only way i would agree with a c&bi / b&tri workout is if there is enough recovery time between them... maybe doing c&bi on a monday and b&tri not until thurs or fri.. ya with me :D

cool

;)

Do dips on both days. for chest day go widegrip and lean forward slightly. On arm day go narrow grip and keep body as upright as possible.

supergirl,

Yea, thats actually how I have it worked out. I have several days between chest day and tri's day. That is a pretty good point you're making about how you already begin to break down the tri's when doing chest, however you also work a lot of tri's when doing shoulders. So should you work tri's on shoulder days as well? Either way, the larger, more complex exercises should be done first no matter what you do after that. Doing tri's before chest wouldn't make a whole lot of sense.

I followed a routine along those lines about 6 months ago, the one thing that I noticed is that my tri's started to really lag behind everything else. Once I switched it up and went to chest/bi's rest back/tri's they started coming around again. I do agree with you on the rest period though. I don't think I'd get a very good workout if I didn't have that rest day in between.

the key is experimenting, changing things up and finding what works for your body...
as far as dips go (point of the whole thread lol) i used to do them on chest day, but my front delts got a little too big and i am now laying off.. i used them as a warmup for chest, really leaning in on my chest.. burned like hell, but i assume you can put them where ever the hell you want lol.. with tris, just come up straighter and really flex the tris :D
