Carbs When Cutting - Recipes / Preparation

Gang -

I'm new here - and interested in knowing what you guys do when preparing meals - in terms of carbs. I'm 6'1" and down from 250 to 225 right now (from 24% BF to about 17.5% in just 2 months). I'm just starting a cycle of test to strengthen and build lean muscle - and also doing 60 minutes of cardio a day to drop my BF. My protein is great - but I'm having trouble with my carb sources.

What is the best source / type of oats and rice. How do you prepare it (to be frozen - when I cook my meals for 1 week) and what do you add to it so it tastes better. I'd like to know what brand of rice and type - and how it's cooked. I've been cheating, cooking the "uncle Ben's" rice - but it's got tons of sodium in it and I've been told it's not the best form of carbs.

Also, regarding veggies - are frozen veggies good - where you can just heat them up in a microwave or are fresh veggies cooked and then frozen by me better for me? Also, what are the best veggies to consume.

Thanks in advance to anyone who responds. Subscribing as a platinum member on this board was the best decision I've ever made. I wish I knew about this 13 years ago when I was at my prime. You guys are awesome - Thanks!

Hey semper!....you should read a book called the Abs Diet.....you can do a hell of a lot of reading on here on different ways to put together a good cutting diet, but honestly bro...this book says it all...its an easy read....and pretty much outlines the perfect diet....not just for cutting, but for the rest of your life....probably the best 15 bucks i've ever spent...check it out at the local book store man......one of my buddies told me about it.....finished it in a few days and have been doing it ever since....and have also been tellin my bros. about it.....let me know what ya think

Frozen veggies have horrible nutritional vale when compared to fresh veggies. Freezing vegetables breaks the cells, releasing their nutrients we are after, actually making it worse than cooking them. Fresh is head and shoulders the best way to go.

I've been getting great results from whole grain oats (quaker), whole wheat breads(no enriched flour), steamed and raw veggies, whole grain rice cakes.

Oats, Brown Rice, Dark Green Veggies, Dark Purple Veggies, (Anything with a lot of color)

Oh and their is a balance between things tasting good and being nutritious, if you eat healthy stuff all the time your taste buds will adapt, and fresh steamed veggies with no salt taste just wonderful. Here is a good graph to follow:

DON'T EAT <-(So wonderfully tasty)---------------------------(Bland, Grainy, Dull, Boring)-> EAT
