can you make legs smaller?

hey guys, in comparison to the rest of my body, my legs have always been pretty thick ( i guess my stomach matches lol) i actually have to use a lubricant for cardio because my legs rub just below my testicular area. Im hoping that will get better as I get thinner. But what i was curious if i continued to do upper body with heavy low reps, and started doing legs with a lighter weight and much higher reps would my legs get more solid, but get smaller?

Thanks

Wynter

It sounds like you need to diet. I doubt your legs have a huge amount of muscle on them. So I would still work them hard and focus on diet and cardio more.

I understand that, and I was quite portly.. still am a bit. my diet has been tweaked by people on here, and macros and cals and have gone through all that. And fat is coming off, since ive joined Elite Fitness I have gone from 195 to 190, and I am also seeing muscle growth and little new changes everywhere. I know in the inner thigh area there is a bit of fat, but my quadriceps are actually somewhat muscular.. for my size anyways. Like at the moment I can see two muscle heads right above each knee with a bit of a split between them. also on the outside of each leg there is a good crevasse going from the knee up towards the butt. goes up about half way. i know fat will come off and they will get skinnier.. I was just concerned they might get bigger. there isnt alot of fat if i pinch them. My whole family is pretty big legged.

Ill just keep on plugging away and see how things go i guess

Thanks

I just saw my join date was actually november. I meant I have lost this weight and made improvements since I made my first post about diet tweaking about 2-3 weeks ago.

Contrary to what most beleive.. Legs grow much better to higher reps. 15-25 will most likely make your legs bigger than 3-10

Even if your legs grow from lifting, they will be leaner from dieting. As long as you stay on track with diet and cardio that fat will come off. Getting ripped is a long slow process and takes months and years of hard work. Just be patient and stay on course.

also if it make you feel any better (or it might make you feel worse) my husband is lean as hell and his thighs rub...dude has these freaky hairless spots from the rubbing
its part the way his thighs are rotated in his pelvis and part muscle

I agree with what everyone else said about losing fat is your best bet...and you could scale back leg training a bit too...plenty of female bodybuilders do it because their legs will get huge before their upper bodies do

Yeah i got the same hairless spots. lol. my family is kind of bigger from the waist down. would switching my leg day to something like plyometrics be a good idea? i know the cardio from it is always a good thing

you could give it a shot...worse that happens is in a month you're not seeing the results you were looking for and you change it
I usually think experimentation can be worth it if you don't have a deadline
I mean, this is assuming that you don't have a deadline for a totally uniform/balanced physique like a need to get on a stage

Ha, no there is no timeline. I have been a fat wobbly oaf for 2-3 years now. I also think the plyo might be good as it is a lot of cardio too. I tried one plyo workout and it destroyed my legs. Could barely walk for four days. And as I do progress I could always get a weighted best or hold dumb bells.

Thank you for your input!
