a glass of scotch (Chevis) and water?

We are assuming it is poured "heavy" (aka strong = meaning more than the standard one shot. Maybe a shot and half).

Big thanks and green to those in advance I will check this in a couple of hours when I return.

oh yessa. I can't find info on 'chevis' whatever that is (is that like, um, canadian blended?)

Scotch generally has 70 kcal per oz. of straight. 0 carbs, all the calories come from ethanol. Ethanol (which for some reason isn't included in the f/p/c breakdown) has 7 calories per gram.

106.31 calories for 1.5oz of standard whiskey.

I'd go on the assumption that it's all carbs, as that impact vs. non-impact carb business seems to be hocus-pocus. Bottom line: it'll bring you out of ketosis, so it's carbs. If you're not on some sort of hardcore ketogenic diet, have a couple and don't worry about it...just take some R-ALA beforehand to minimize the damage.

read up on the effects of ethanol on fat metabolism. ethanol inhibits fat oxidation. However this could be true of any macronutrient.

so it makes you gain weight faster? is that it?

how long does the effects of ethanol last. I was always under the impression that if you drink alcohol and eat food it basically goes straight to fat bc your body will look to filter out the ethanol calories before the food.

probably not in low doses. However alcohol slows/stops fat oxidation and increases appetite.

However i have seen conflicting studies that say serious alcoholism is good for weight loss so i honestly dont know.

ok... we are talking about someone that eats breakfast (McD's), then eats lunch (crap food) around 2PM and nothing else. Then from 5pm-10pm probably has about 12-15 Chevis and water.
He has gone from pants size 34 to 48 in over 2 years. In an attempt to lose weight, he will go on 6-7 weeks of Xenical - which is the fat blocker, but it is not like he consumes enough food overall to worry about fat. He will lost about 10 pounds, but it ain't fat. he ends up a 10 pound lighter fat person.
