Bulking & Cutting Cycle Lengths?

I was just wondering, when people do Bulking & Cutting cycles, generally how long do they do each for? Is there a certain length of time that is generally regarded as optimal to cut/bulk for, or do people just bulk until they can't stand the fat anymore, then cut? I've just come from a fairly successful cut and I'm going to start bulking again, but was just wondering if people do each for a certain length of time before moving on to the other.

Thanks in advance guys.

I bulked for 5 years until I decided to cut just recently. I'm going to cut down until I don't feel like it anymore. The only reason anybody would bulk and cut for a specific time is if they have a goal: want to look good for summer, bodybuilding comp, etc.

Also, you can clean bulk where you gain quality mass with minimal fat or eat everything in sight. Same holds true for cutting, would you rather lose 1 or 2 pounds a week? Maybe you'd rather try to do a body recomp where you maintain around the same weight while adding muscle/losing fat simultaneously.

What is your goal in terms of weight and BF?

I think it's different for everyone..... for example I'm trying to be at 160lbs @ single digit BF. I started at 145 @ 12% BF and I am aiming to get up to 170lbs before I cut.

People say a healthy amount of weight to gain per week is 2-3lbs which is what I've been doing..... so I'm anticipating it will take me roughly around 12 weeks for this bulk. And however long it takes me to cut down to 160lbs which I aim to lose 1lb per week.

I bulk for no longer than 12-16 weeks at a time... Cutting is a different story... However long it takes me to reach my goals...Sometimes it's a long road for me.

ive been trying to bulk my whole life. Anything i eat makes me stay at 10% BF. i love my genetics. dont get me wrong i usually eat eggs, ww bread, milk, whey and chicken.

theres no optiml time. If you feel like you want to cut, then cut. Have a life. Enjoy your life dont worry about little things. Do what you want. You dont want to be sitting down getting at yourself for not being in the gym running but "its not time to cut" yet.
