building muscle on LONG legs?

Audacious1

This is a question for my husband. First off, he is 6'2" and most of that is leg. He has real LONG legs. When we first met, he was lifting a lot and had an awsome upper body, but he just couldn't seem to build his legs. He has backed off of lifting for a few years and is starting up again...now we have very limited resources when it comes to equipment. We don't have the time, babysitters, and money to get a gym membership at this point. So my question is...for someone with extremely long legs who wants to build muscle, is it a good or bad idea to walk on a steep incline on the treadmil to build his legs. I have been doing it for a while and i see results, but he just doesn't seem to beleive it will work for him.

i think if he wants to build mass he should stick to traditional methods (squats, leg presses, quad ext, ham curls etc)... i know that having long legs (which i do not :( ) does effect the mechanics in some ways, but my ex who is about same height has put on mucho mass through the traditional movements...

most people (men and women) will only see so much results with treadmill ect, you need to push heavy weights to build mass...

If he could not build his legs through lifting before, the incline stairs will most likely do zip. SQUATS...SQUATS...SQUATS...THAT WILL WORK.

Walking on a treadmill will NOT BUILD MASS!! Not gonna happen..you will lose size if anything. You dont need a gym membership...for christmas invest in some dumbbells and weight equipment for your home...sometimes you can get some stuff cheap at garage sales etc. I had a client that picked up a 4 sets of dumbbells, a bench, and bar for $20. Then you two can lift @ home...squats..lunges..deadlifts...but just walking alone on a incline will not do it.

Hey new...we do have weights and a bench, but i was just wondering if the treadmil would also be of any help...but thanks everyone for your input.

Spatts- I train usually by myself, I train w/ a friend who is a pro natural bb occasionally, but our schedules are so different and Ive picked up hours so its not often. I train w/ W6 last week...hopefully I will be able to train w/ him occasionally but for the most part its by myself:( Dont like it but I've learned to make the best out of it...I do go heavy and just do a lot of drop sets.
