I was on Orthotricyclen great pill never had a problem if and when I go back on I want to try the new Orthotricyclen has lower hormones or something.

I was on that (Orthotricyclen-lo) for a while, went off it (mostly because my insurance was being a pain), and started up again 3 wks. ago, and I don't even notice it. My gyno reccomended it to me last year because weight gain and especially an increase in breast size (I'm currently a 34D, can get down to a low C with hardcore cutting but that's about as small as they'll go) were my main concern. I think it may be making me hang onto the body fat I'm trying to lose a little more than being on nothing, but I haven't gained anything. I'd much rather deal with that than having kids!!

Ive tried the pill, the depo shot and currently Im on the patch. Everyone is different and as you can see, everyone will give you a different synopsis of their own experience. Id try the patch first before depo. I had no period while on depo but i also had no sex drive whatsoever. On the patch i have a period now but I get horny too which is nice LOL Its all give and take if you ask me.

Smurfy, how are you finding the patch? I'm interested in trying it.. how is it with the showering situation? Does it come off or seem like it's going to? Did it take a few months to regulate (ie no spotting etc.) ?

Does the adhesive bother your skin at all? I'm allergic to the adhesive glue in fabric band-aids so I wonder if I'd be okay with the patch..

Thanks in advance! :)

I went to my OB/GYN and requested a new type of BC from the Depo. She at first suggested IUD which I was not interested in (expensive and from what i hear also painful procedure). The patch seemed an easy alternative.

After not having a period for over 2 years on Depo, I got it after one 3 week cycle on the patch. I have not had any spotting of any sort since being on the patch for almost 3 months, just a regular period.

As far as the adhesive, i shower twice a day sometimes more depending on my activities I also sweat like a banshee at the gym and i have only had a problem twice with the patch coming loose. But there are replacement patches. Youd be surprised how good those things stick to you. First time i went to take off the 1st patch, i had to RIP that sucker off. and it hurt LOL so yeah they stick real well. as long as your skin is clean and DRY when you put it on. that is obviously important too.

I have had no skin irritation other than when I ripped it off and it hurt. But Im not allergic to any adhesives, so you might want to make it a point to mention that to your Doc and see what they say.

As far as side effects: nausea, sore and tender boobies, bloated. these have diminished over the last month or so which I assumed they would (Ive been on almost 3 months now).

Let me know if you have any other questions. Sorry if this was long winded.

Awesome, thank you Smurfy! Appreciate the long reply.

I'm relieved to hear they stick well, I was worried about that. (I'm a sweatbeast in the gym), will talk to my doc and try it out then! :D

I got the shot it worked great never got pregnant on it, it stopped my period completely!!! (even after I stopped getting the shot, for a year.) The down side for me was I gained a massive amount of weight. No matter what I did I just couldn't stop gaining weight. I stopped getting the shot after the third one and it took a while but the weight did come off, it takes a while for it to get out of your system. I had a friend start getting the shot and she didn't have any change in her weight, but it made her have her period nonstop. She had to wear a panty liner everyday. If I were you I would try something else first. The shot has so many shitty side effects!!

^ thats good to know. So fa I hear the patch is the best way to go

Is anyone on that new Seasonale pill that makes you have only 4 periods/year? Sounds intriguing, but I'd imagine it's pretty high hormone dosage in comparison to what I'm on now.

hey ladies, i wanted to know if any of you have taken anavar while on birth control pills. sometimes i do use the "pull out" method, and i wanted to know if there is a high chance for pregnancy while taking var b/c of what it does to a regualr menstral cycle.

I also wanted to know if anyone has tried that seasonale. I asked a nurse about it and she didnt know much b/c it had just come out, but she did say that a pill that stops your normal body for such a long period of time is prob not a good idea unless you already had childrenm or dont plan it. Wanted to know if anyone has any personal experience with it..

Thanx

As for that Seasonale pill... yeah I'm w/ the nurse. Obviously we bleed for a reason & there's no reason to mess w/ mother nature. No matter how safe they say it is, I wouldn't trust it. Later on after "more studies" they'll find problems with it like with everything else out there! :qt:
