Ladies I need some help...

For 3 yrs I was on the pill. I was taking Alesse at one point and then my doctor switched me to Orthotricyclen. I decided to come off the pill because I would always forget to take it and it was screwing up my whole men. cycle.

I really need to go back on birth control. I don't use protection and everytime I am a little late for my period I get nervous. Besides the pill, I have heard of the shot and the patch. Anyone one using either of these?

I tried the shot, unfortunatly it made me have my men cycle every 2 weeks. Same with my sister...

Never tried the patch, as when the patch was approved here in Canada, I had my tubes tied.

I've heard other people have great success with the shot, just most likely my screwed up hormones.

I've heard some woman say you can also skip your period with the shot. Thats not comforting... I think I am leaning more toward the patch, but how full proof is it?

I still take the pill (Orthotricyclen) - I put it in my lil' makeup bag in my purse b/c since I'm always guaranteed to get into my makeup bag sometime in the morning to put on some lip balm, then I see the pills & take them. But my sis' tried the patch...it's really the same thing only thing is you have to remember it 3 times per month rather than everyday. I'd steer away from the shot...I've heard so many things about it. Obviously, we're all different but still, the things I heard was enough to scare me away!

anyone ever try the i.u.d method
my gf had one in and said it never messed with her and she did have her period on schedule ususally and within a few months of taking it out for sake of having a child she ended up pregnant

i am thinking of trying it as well

Yeah I heard about this... they said it works for women who have already had a baby! :qt: So I won't try this until LATER!

Bella I DO NOT I repeat DO NOT even consider Depo as an alternative to the pill. I went on it put on pounds, lost my sex drive, and got killer headaches. Right now the only birth control I am on is condoms. I went off the pill for training I didn't want any extra estrogen in me. I was on Orthotricyclen great pill never had a problem if and when I go back on I want to try the new Orthotricyclen has lower hormones or something.

I had an IUD years ago. And been on the pill. The IUD didn't settle with me very well. Ended up in the hospital. It set up infection.

So decided to have my tubes tied. If you don't want any kids or finished having kids. This is the best way to go.. IMO!

I didn't like how I felt on the pill......when my 2nd hubby & I got married we decided on no kids -- I never wanted any anyway so he volunteered to be snipped.

It's great!!! No worries!!

My friend had an IUD put in after she had her 2nd baby at 40...he was not planned. LOL She's had no problems with it for 6 yrs. now.

I tried the pill a few times over the years and it always reacted badly for me. I wanted to get my tubes tied but hubby was against it just in case we decide to have another, similarly he won't get a vas. and he hates condoms so he just pulls out and that's worked fine for us.
