How many times have you gone to your gym and found at least two people using a belt at every exercise they do. Some just use belts for lower back support on heavy deadlifts, snatches, power cleans, or squats, but how often do you use a belt?
I myself never use a belt, but might start using it slightly because i'm deadlifting around 315x5 now.
But it boggles my mind how some people still keep on their belt when they bench press or do bicep curls. I heard that using a belt dramatically decreases the challenge of the weight your doing when you squat or deadlift.
Not sure if that information is accurate though.

I never use a belt, and never will for any movements for 5 reps and up. Where did you get the idea that 315 x 5 on the deadlift was heavy. That's barely a beginner's weight.

I wear a loose belt for RDLs, OHPs, and BB rows just to remind my self to keep a tight core. For my Heavy squats, and front squats I do wear my belt tight.

With me wearing a belt will make me forget to keep a tight core. Without one a tight core is always on my mind.

I used to use a belt only during squats, for the sole reason that I believed that heavy squats without a belt would cause your waist to get big and blocky. Whether there is truth to that I don't know, but I don't use one anymore.

only on very heavy (near max) squats, deadlifts and OHP's. Thats it, wearing it more often than that will weaken your core/stabilizers.

I use it on squats and deads but thats only been for the last month. prior to that I was building back up to working with over 300lbs and I wanted to concentrate on form. I felt using a belt would give me greater confidence to go heavier than I should be and sacrifice my form. Once I started hitting 295 for 8-10 on squats and deads without a belt I decided it was time to get the belt back.
