Barbell shrugs-Torso upright or bent forward slightly?

The thread title says it all- I've tried shrugs with a slight forward lean and found that it hits the traps harder, plus the bar doesnt rub against my balls as I shrug :D Is this alright or is it bad form(hard on the back?) Thanks for any info.

I do barbell shrugs on several planes. Over a bench, standing and forward, totally upright, even laying on my back (reverse band shrugs). Anything that's not upright is called a "kelso shrug" and I generally some form of a kelso every upper body workout. :)

I lean forward a little so the bar doesn't drag up my legs so bad. Unless I use the shrug macking or a trap bar then I stay vert.

Cheers,
Scotsman

First off I do lean forward with my shrugs and it is okay

these are the different shrugs I do

Power Shrugs clean grip
Power Shrugs snatch grip
Overhead shrugs
Bent over shrugs
hindu bat or db iron cross shrugs

i kind of have a similar problem when i do them behind the back. Instead of the bar hitting my junk, the bar rubs against my ass and it is hard to do clean reps. Do any of you have this problem, or do i just have a ghetto booty?:FRlol:

shrugs

i lean forward a bit and do them SLOW. if i do them regular upright this way, my low back tends to get sore the next. My back sways in a lot making my as stick out more (Chicks dig it though), so some exercises can be a pain, such as dumbell sgrugs or squats.
