bar grip

when doing the bench press, how do you guys position your hand? I used to grasp the bar so my palms would be facing upwards toward the ceiling, but someone told me that could lead to wrist injury and suggested that I move my palms so that they are facing towards my legs (knuckles up). I have tried it and it takes a little more control so the bar doesn't roll off, but I like it. just want to know your guys" opinion.

Same here

I was advised of the same thing and have not regretted changing my holding. I find by wrapping the your thumbs around the bar you get to have a better arm position and a better tricep work out when pressing.

Also it feels good to you which is important as well so go with it.

I would say that unless you're having problems with your wrists, to keep your palms up, especially with the heavier weights.

The problem with knuckles up is that the weight is not as stable. If you lose your grip even slighly and your palms go forward, you're gonna dump the bar right on your stomach.

If you're concerned about your wrists, I'd say go a head and vary your grips. But I'd only go knuckles up on the lighter weights.

Palms forward

If you roll your wrists back you're going to run into problems as the weight gets heavier so change it now and you won't regret it.
