Atkins diet is a LIE!?!?!

Everyone I've know that has tried or is on Atkins now loses the hell out of weight. I think the results speak for themselves. For one thing, notice that most low carb foods contain less calories. That is probably one reason right there. But also, the sugars and things that are avoided contribute as well. I think it is great. Bam
 
ok, i agree that they may lose weight. what i am mostly concerned about is loss of muscle mass. eat too few carbs and you’ll end up weak, flat, pumpless, and with little to no vascularity. chronically eating inadequate carbs will keep you from growing and more likely you’ll end up shrinking.
 
obiwan9962, that's impressive. are you totally natural?

out of curiosity, how do you calculate exactly how many lbs of fat you've lost vs. muscle gained?

yes i am natural unless you contain vitamins minerals and amino acids
the trainer at the Y helped me figured it out
before that i was using http://www.mybodycomp.com
to give me a rough estimate

no, i don't count vitamins and aminos, but watch out... it's only a matter of time before the gov't bans those, too! :p

up here in canada aminos are just recently been legalized for sale otc
but i could still get them
i use arginine
theanine
tyrosine ( i am hypothryroid)
and methionine
 
great thread. I don't understand how you can gain muscle while doing atkins. was it while you were in ketosis or a later stage that had moderate carbs in it? Also Ive been in ketosis for around 10 days i thought i would have dropped a little more by now. but as far as being full, i dont believe i have felt full in the last 2 weeks.

you can but it is a slower process and the muscle mass is not a great a gain as if you were on ckd
ckd is similiar to atkins induction plus one or two carb up days
how are you gauging ketosis
ketostix are not that reliable
i used em
never went into deep ketosis but still lost lots of weight
and are you going by a mirror or a scale
do not trust a scale
trust how your clothes fit
and how you look in the mirror
and do not judge daily
do it once a week at the most
i work with a guy that has seen me daily and has thought i lost no weight
but i have my trainer and doctor and records to prove otherwise
if you are looking for weight loss go atkins
if you are looking to cut while gain muscles use ckd
if you just want to safe try south beach
