Atkins diet is a LIE!?!?!

The reason most people lose wt on atkins IS because they end up consuming fewer calories. You will lose some additional calories through expelled ketones. your body will burn the most amount of fat through the krebs cycle, which is slowed considerably in low carb diets. the problem is it is hard to "dial-in" the correct amounts of carbs for most people to burn maximum fat, which end up producing less impressive results. low carb diets are much less tempermental.
 
I don't have a link to the test, I just happened to turn the TV on ast night and the show was about 10mins in to it.
 
how can you possibly believe a test done on two subjects??

i am 41 years old and until i was 40 i poohood lo carb diets from the inception over 21 years ago when i first heard about dr atkins
i finally tried it on my 41st birthday and while i did it incorrectly by consuming too much protien and not enough fat i STILL lost 50 pounds of fat and 6.5 inches around my waist in less than 3 months

i never went into deep ketosis

i am on atkins for a month and alternate with ckd another month
and i consume aprox 50 g carb a day still losing a pound a week
when i get to where i want to i believe 65 grams of carbs will be my maintence intake

i have done much research in this field and have developed many recipes for ckd/atkins

there are several points to atkins i would like to revise
but that will probably be discussed in a book i am writing

this is exactly why you never wanna believe all you see on tv.

it is a physiological fact that when glucose stores are low enough, the body begins to convert protein to glucose via gluconeogenesis, and converts fats to ketones.

that's why too much protein can keep you out of ketosis (or it'll take longer to reach ketosis), due to the glucose being generated from gluconeogenesis.

my understanding of the atkins diet is that for most people it typically has more fat and less protein than a typical bodybuilders CDK diet, so it ketosis would definitely be going on with atkins.

and as far as protein making you feel full......BULLSHIT. ask anyone what macro is the most filling and they're gonna say carbs (there are physiological reasons for this also). try eating a protein only meal and staying full for an extended time period.

i'd have to say that program was pure bullshit.

Exactly. I lost 50lbs on Atkins when I did it a couple of years back too. I cheated, I used caffine and ephedra too, but I kept the carbs extremely low.

I will have to be watching for you book to come out. LOL.
 
and as far as protein making you feel full......BULLSHIT. ask anyone what macro is the most filling and they're gonna say carbs (there are physiological reasons for this also).

I think a lot of it is the high fat in the atkins that fills you up. fiber and carbs are probably close behind, in that order.
 
thats buttshit.. when i eat protien and veggies i dont get filled up.. im hungry in the next 45 mins.. i can eat a whole tombstone and be hungry in 45 mins.. atkins works. my mom lost 25 pound in 2 month w/o cardio.. and 20g of carbs a day. ive been on it for 5 days and lost 3 pounds..

my pants fit bette already..

one question though.. my piss is starting to smell real bad.. is this from the diet?

Yup and watch out for the breath to follow too. And even your sweat will be worst too. Basically every thing you excrete will have a slightly different stench to it. But when I did it, I found you can dilute this significantly by drinking more water. And it helps loose weight faster too.
