Arobics is Stupid and It Doesn't Do Squat...

I have been working out for about 2 years now. And the arobic class that I see when I am working are the same ladies and the same fatness. But then I will see a couple of them come over to the gym and start doing weights and within three months they look noticably better. So I have came to the conclusions arobics is a waste of time.

its not a waste of time, its just not a complete fitness program. chances are they stay fat because they dont change much about how they eat too. start doing weights, chances are they are learning about nutrition or just by dumb luck they burn more calories than they eat. either way, it has its place, though you wont catch me doing it. :D

I definately see your point curling...definately. Cardio does do one thing...strengthens your heart...

Not exactly, it depends on the type of cardio. In college I rowed (crew) heavyweight, and those are some pretty big boys, strong-hearts or not. Same thing w/many water polo players.

Yes, they supplement with weights, but rowing workouts are about strength as well. Think of them as an all-out, 2 mile sprint.

Fun, fun, fun.....

I think that we are saying the same thing. No matter if they are overweight or not...cardio can help you get into a better cardiovascular condition.

Long time since I have been on the boards since finals and projects and a new job.... Cardio sucks but it is a neccessary evil. It strengthens your heart and burns calories, while these ladies may be fat it is most likely due to over-eating than being sedentary. You can lift all day long and eat too much and still be fat. I hate cardio but it doesn't mean it isn't useful in some situations....

Moving more by doing whatever helps to decrease fat when you don't shovel untold amounts of food down your pie hole. The fat chicks are helping there hearts, but they're not losing weight because they still eat poorly. A study not too long ago found that active overweight people are healthier than inactive folks with "normal" weights (that's overweight, not obese).

Anyway, it all comes down to my new favorite quote: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A FAT P.O.W.

Close your pie hole!

Hey cardio is ok. I am riding my moutain bike on a golf course cart path that is like a roller coaster which actually I enjoy. But aerobics no way to faggy looking for me.

Well, you also have to look at your sample. You're watching the fat women from the cardio classes which leads me to the following conclusions:

1. Since they are already overweight they do not eat properly.

2. They hate working out and most likely work out infrequently and with little motivation. They take the cardio classes because it makes working out tolerable.

3. They don't understand proper training and dieting therfore they crash diet and do very little weight training because it will make them "big."

However, I know a 45 yr old hottie that has less than 12% bodyfat and is very muscular yet only does cardio kickboxing and light to moderate weight training. The difference is that she doesn't fall into the above three categories.
