Army Physical Fitness Test in three weeks!

the russians had a saying...the body becomes its' function.... therefore whet you need to do to get better at this multiteat event is....do the event for you training ...so you can get used to running after a max effert pushup situp work out ...BTW don't you have to do pull ups too?

This is a good point. I do intend to take a couple of practice tests in the weeks/days ahead.

Not a part of the standard army pt test, but when I was with the Rangers it was a part of their test. Has to do with verifying that you're strong enough to conduct a two-riser slip.

for the air force, they will be cutting the run down to a mile and a half starting next semester. the scoring will be even more difficult. to score a perfect you would need to run a 7:30 mile and a half, which comes out to 5min/mile. i can't do that for the life of me. if get down below 10min i will be happy.

You take that test once a year right? What is required to pass, and are upwardly mobile career-oriented officers expected to do well, as in the army? Or do they just try to pass the thing?

My buddy and I were next to a couple of fat bastard's, both E-6's, and when we were doing the sit ups their count went something like this..( uhemm, clearing throat to get ready....), 1...2...3...6...9....12....15... FOR REAL!! My bud and I just about shit laughing!!!

Good for you to do it the right way bubba..power to ya!!

Laughing? I have been exposed to only a few incidents of cheating on an APFT but when I have it has resulted in disciplinary action. Usually these things are quality-controlled and run by a commander/1st Sergeant with trained graders, etc.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you ttlpkg.
I am still a firefighter/paramedic and lovin it!!
Tried personal training but it took too much time away from my training to do it for a living. Now I just help my 'fire family' with their fitness stuff.

Stats: 5'8 3/4"
175lbs
bf unknown, I have abs though

Check out my website www.firejock.com (hope I did the link thing right, I'm not quite computer savy yet)
No sales just fitness fun stuff related mostly to helping firefighters maintain job readyness.
I trust you're doing well in preparation for your PT test.
Keep us posted,

The opening back double bi shot is me, although you may not have seen it if you didn't click on the little multi colored maltese cross at the bottom right corner of the opening picture. That's me pulling the hose.
