are you supposed to go into ketosis on the anpb diet?

This is my third day on anpb, and so far it kicks ass, no loss of energy, not hungry and of course the peanut butter tastes great. My only question is, I'm eating 20 tbs of peanut butter / day, this is ~60g of carbs, which is prob too many carbs to get into ketosis. Are you supposed to go into keto on this diet or no?
 
No, you're not supposed to, but some individuals can easily dip into ketosis at that level of carbs. It's not really a problem.
 
90% of the population would be in ketosis with 60 grams of carbs/day. Some woman may not, but almost every guy will be...

The ANPB diet works by shedding BF and the most effective way is through burning ketones. I am no expert when it comes to ketones effects on lean muscle...but in theory the intake of protien should be satisfactory to protect muscle, while shedding fat...

If someone knows better, I too would like to know how that works....
 
Many, many people cannot go into keto if their carb intake goes over 30 grams. I don't know where you get the 90% figure from; just ask some of the ketoers how they were in the beginning, and what it took for them to get into ketosis.

For experienced ketoers, yes, 60 grams would be low enough; their bodies are trained to go into ketosis.
 
Good point ohashi. When I first started, I had to stay around 25-30 grams, althought I admit my protien was higher than it should have been. Now, I can get into and stay in ketosis and go as high as 70-80 grams, but I still try to limit it to around 30, just to make certain I stay deep in ketosis. Someone like me, who has trained their body to go into ketosis easily, will find this diet to be the most effective, because we can go into ketosis while on it. Alot of people will not be able to. Still it is a decent diet and very easy to follow, although I think its too low in a few essential nutrients to be optimal.
 
just out of curiosity, how the hell do you train your body to go into ketosis?
I sure as hell would like to know!

You can use ketostix (urinanalysis) that are available at any pharmacy. Other signs include metalic taste in the mouth and bad tasting breath and semen. Some people use signs like lethargy and brain fog as ketosis indicators, but you don't get those after a while.
