Anyone here have an ACL reconstruction?

Anyone here have an ACL reconstruction? I believe I'm fixing to have one and I would like to know how your squat is effected. I probably would not be squatting for a year or longer, but I'm curious to know if I'll be able to get back into it later on. I'm also looking for personal experiences with it. I'm having a hard time with it and from some people I've come accross this is going to be a problem for the rest of my life, which is very heartbreaking, any comments or personal experiences?

Get in touch with strider364. He is a close personal friend of mine who will be happy to talk to you about it. He had his knee cut a little over a year ago.

A training partner who had both knees scoped, he came back to squat even more, time will help. He went from 805 to 840, also Louie of Westside has had both patella tendons reattached and squated 920, also M. Ruggeria 1015, so just be patient.

I have not had mine done, but I have replaced quit a few in the patients that come into our office. In fact, we did 4 this week alone. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email. I will even tell you what questions to ask your Dr. so that you will know if he is a good sports medacine doc, or if you should look else where. Good luck with everything.

Had it on Oct 2001...so about a year and a half ago...
Squatted 425 ish before i bliew it out...
Now i am up to 475...natural...
Did Westside for a while...but take your time...progress slowly...if u go too fast u will feel it and it sucks...prepare to walk with a slight limp for a while...

my training partner has had both of his done (soccer injuries), and is now squatting over 500. I think it will take you 6 - 8 months to get your squat back over where it was if you proceed at a healthy pace.

good luck.
